Todays class activity where we created our own digital humanities definition was super interesting to see how everyone was on the same path but even still no 2 definitions were the exact same. Which we also saw in the reading at the start of the semester
@kat_campbell99 I agree, I was thinking it was going to be this super long project that would take a week of hard work to finish, and while it took that much effort breaking it up made it feel super manageable. #cnuengl350
I really enjoyed learning about DH in this class. I knew nothing about the field coming in and was pleasantly surprised as to how wide and interesting the it is. #cnuengl350
Had a really good peer review. Always good to get some feedback on a resume because when you apply for a job you don’t get feedback even if the resume is the reason you don’t get the job. #cnuengl350
@_ThomasM8 I agree, and being in our group of 2 we had 2 people look at our work which will definitely help our final version that we turn in soon #cnuengl350
Through the last few weeks when we have been writing pieces of the grant narrative and I was struggling to see how they fit together but now with all of them drafted it seems to fit well and be a complete project. Now time to edit #cnuengl350
The incase work we did about the resume was really helpful. IT confirmed some things about mine that I have done well but also showed me some easy changes that could be made #cnuengl350
The sites we looked at were really helpful for our grant project. The budgeting was interesting because creating an actual budget isn't something you have to do in school often so having some tips is helpful #cnuengl350
After concluding my meeting with @dr_stover I now have a better sense of what work needs to be done moving forward. I know how we need to write our environmental scan and how we need to shift our research to make our work more scholarly #cnuengl350
@JBernhardtDH350 I agree with this. After looking to some more projects, my group has kept the same topic but focus our map to follow one character instead of just create the full landscape from the show #cnuengl350
Through my research I have found many people who have partially attempted mapping projects similar to mine. Although some are very good, they all aren't perfect. We plan to mesh the positives of many projects in our map #cnuengl350
@LSix642 I completely agree! Thomas really used the sandwich technique well and had really insightful pros and cons as well as some really good suggestions on how to make the site better.
After reading @sophbaxt's review and playing around on the site I got a feel or a different type of DH map project. This was a physical walk though of a house. Although the content wasn't my personal favorite navigating the site and experiencing the new project was awesome
The copyright and digital projects had a nice guide and checklist for when you need to cite your pictures text and other forms of other peoples work online. The short answer is always #cnuengl350
@KFerguson350 That is very interesting especially in a topic that is constantly evolving. The construction still has not been finished so there is no reason not to update the site, at least once a year
The project i am reviewing is a digital map of Game of the Thrones the show. This is related to the project I am planning to create for the grant. Although this project was good I have some easy changes and differences to make it great #cnuengl350
The peer review with @_ThomasM8 was super helpful once again. Helped with sentence structure, overall formatting as well as helped to narrow down which pictures I should add #cnuengl350
After also reading the "Farmers market English Experience" abstract I could tell it was really interesting. The abstract was great, told you everything you needed to know. Who made it, how they did, who it was for, why it was made. A model work for anyone looking for an example
@kat_campbell99 While in todays society this is true. The people that did not grow up with technology is shrinking and younger and younger kids are understanding simple technology. While it should be user friendly to be well adopted many people could still use it if it wasn't
