Since we worked on the grant project in sections over an extended period of time it was more manageable to complete it. It also was beneficial because it allowed me to stay focused on one part at a time and not get too overwhelmed or confused. #engl350
Overall I enjoyed this class as a whole. Every class was engaging and allowed for collaboration with peers and Dr. Stover. This class improved my writing skills and taught me the importance of being concise and to the point when writing. #engl350
The peer review was helpful because it allowed my partner to point out flaws that I didn't notice. I will use the suggestions provided by my peer to improve the content for my final resume. #engl350
Reviewing previous Grant projects has allowed me to figuring out what to include in my project and what to exclude. Having examples clearly show "do" and "don't", which is very helpful. #engl350
@Brenanabread99 I agree! I have learned many tips and tricks for creating a resume that I didn't know before. It really comes down to the verbs used and formatting that matter in a resume. #engl350
The peer review of the Grant Narrative was very beneficial. I was having trouble figuring out what to include in my Grant Narrative but the peer review comments gave me more ideas so I make sure I include everything I need to. #engl350
Creating a DH project is very new to me (obviously). Therefore, finding and exploring different potential tools to use for my project is very necessary. Figuring out potential ways to bring this project to life is a challenge because there are so many online tools. #engl350
@LSix642 This section of the article made it very clear on what aspects to incorporate in the budget section of my grant. I now understand what to include and what not to include.
I have found a lot of research to include in my Environmental Scan. I just hope I am presenting it in a well thought out manner that is organized. My meeting with @dr_stover on Friday will be very insightful on if my ES is comprehensible. #engl350
Having my meeting with Dr. Stover helped me tremendously with figuring out how to write my environmental scan. Since there aren't projects like mine, my environmental scan is going to be based a lot on research of teaching styles.
@DTasselli246@bradya350 I also have struggled so much trying to find DH projects that contain information slightly similar to my topic. I like that I thought outside of the box but there has to be similar projects out there... I just can't find them.
Writing the Environmental Scan has been a challenge because my topic is so broad. I am having a difficult time trying to narrow down my topic to keep my project concise. Throughout my research I've noticed there are many different possible paths I can take for this DH project.
The way @Jamie_DH350 described the layout of the project was very well done. Before even looking at the project they critiqued, I could visual the set up of this project. Great job making the project layout understandable just through your written description. The photos
grant writing. Reading about the differences allowed me recognize how they contrast. Now I will be sure to clearly write the grant proposal how it's intended and not format it exactly how I would for academic writing. #engl350
Grant proposals are very similar to research papers. There are some distinctions between the two which are made clear within the article "Why Academics Have a Hard Time Writing Good Grant Proposals". This article clearly portrayed the differences between academic writing and
"Using the Library Catalog" Tutorial was very helpful in teaching me how to navigate multiple research sites. I had only been familiar with 4 of the sources. I learned a lot about each source and how to use the sites to my advantage. When gathering information, the "how to" in
@DTasselli246 I had the same viewpoint on this reading. This article provided valuable information that helps me know where to begin on writing my grant proposal. The information provided insight on completion of a grant proposal. This reading made me less nervous about my grant proposal.
