The critique is fair. Much of the left is still captured by Marx's early industrial philosophy, written over 150 years ago.

By comparison, 90s Clintonism is the shiny modern update.

@steel_life The cops came to my door the next day. They'd had a report & they followed the blood. They wanted me to testify but I wouldn't bc of potential retaliation. Anyway, they arrested him months later for drug stuff & he got 20 years.

You argue that if the whip worked, slaves would never have run. But the opposite is true. Staying = more whippings forever. Fleeing = 1 more whipping if caught, and 0 more whippings if not.

It's rational to run, given those incentives.
