@RogersHistory I was in an inspection where they tried to suggest we kept a record of all the lessons in foundation subjects that children missed so that we could then teach them what they had missed before starting the next topic 🤦♀️. Not interested in the fact we recapped before new topics.
@vicgoddard My daughter has one more year to go. I can’t get my head round the debt that’s she’s in already. She checked her statement recently and has already accrued an extra £5k in interest.
@HeyMissSmith I think we’re seeing far more attention difficulties, dysregulation and anxiety. I wonder how much screen culture has affected children’s ability to attend. I also think the timetable is crazy with less time spent on creative activities. Add in funding cuts & pandemic..
@Headteacherchat I remember when ofsted were due we all to make sure we had a display up for every single subject no matter how small your classroom was! There were displays everywhere!
@IKEAUK
The glass top of my chest of drawers just exploded showering our living room in glass. No one was hurt but I’m concerned about what would happen in a smaller room where there were children. Spoke to customer services but they weren’t interested as no proof of purchase.
@TeachHughes In my first year of teaching we were doing a topic on air and flight. A child found a dead bird at the weekend and wanted to bring it for show and tell but she wanted to keep it ‘fresh’ so she put in a box and froze it. She presented it to me on the Monday 😳
@MrsRieB Yep. We sang it. And also there was a children’s book all about a girl who had to eat worms every day for a year and it included all the ways she prepared them 😂
@senresourceblog I just remember starting school and already being able to read. My daughter was obsessed with letters from a really early age and would ask what they were. Despite a severe speech difficulty she still learnt almost overnight.
All reading is reading. All books are books. And you can never really know what a child is getting from a book, so please never dismiss their own reading choices. By all means, introduce them to books you like, but all of us deserve to have our choices taken seriously. #literacy
@mrsshudd @HtNewbie @PaulGarvey4 Not in all authorities. The last authority I worked for did this but current one doesn’t. We’re a 2 form entry school with 30 EHCPs so definitely can’t afford to top up the funding of each plan.
@StarlightMcKenz @HtNewbie A lot of LAs don’t ever stipulate 1:1. The ones I’ve worked in recent years certainly don’t. Obviously if that’s what’s in the EHCP, then it has to be delivered.
@KarenWespieser @TeacherTapp It really depends on the structure of individual schools. Often there’s an AHT or DHT for inclusion who sits on SLT and who may line manage the SENCO.
