What exactly is the point of private health insurance in Australia? My wife and I pay $640/month, for "Gold Hospital" coverage with BUPA. And in the last 10 years, apart from increasing our premiums year after year, BUPA has restricted our extras coverage (which we barely use) and gone from $0 excess (hospital coverage) to $250.
