When life feels overwhelming, it is wonderful to remember this simple truth: the universe is not on our shoulders.
It is on the strong shoulders of Jesus, and he will not fail us.
The pastor who did our premarital counseling died about 2 years ago. The thing I remember the most was when we were talking about family expectations. Did we intend for me to stay at home with kids, were we fine with me working? We both gave a unanimous agreement for me to stay at home. He nodded and paused. He said, "That's good you're in agreement. I will give you one thing to hang onto when you walk through that. Marriage isn't about holding to the ideals of your youth. It's about loving the other person well as they grow and change, as life throws many challenges. That means as a couple you have to be flexible. Maybe she don't like staying at home. Maybe it works for awhile, and then it doesn't. Maybe the family needs the money. Maybe everything is fine, and you'll always stay home. But it's not about just loving the person they are now, it's committing to loving the person they will become. Your commitment is to each other, not your ideals."
I'm a student of Dr. Strachan at GBTS and I greatly appreciate him. Also, I don't personally hold to EFS/ERAS.
However, this stuff has got to stop. Flagrant mockery is not the godly way for men to express disagreement.
Daniel, this is not the way brother.
In one month, "The Gospel & the State" kicks off. I was going to give a broad message on "Christian Nationalism." But in watching white nationalism gain strength, I'm changing that.
My message is now entitled "Christianity and Kinism."

Lol I saw a relative tonight who asked if I was working again. When I said I stay home to take care of Benjamin, he replied, “Oh that’s the easy way out. And you’re so well educated!” No offense taken, but it’s funny that people still unironically feel this way.
As a Southern Baptist, if you ever doubted disfellowshipping Saddleback, this should be proof that it was the right decision. Here are the pastors, Andy and Stacie Wood.
I’m a pastor who occasionally pops in on Twitter. I see what’s trending, I read some news, I follow updates on a few favorite sports teams — and of course, I see (because it’s impossible not to see) various verbal skirmishes and dust-ups between pastors and theologians . . . 🧵
A Sunday to remember. We said goodbye to this wonderful building this morning. Next Sunday we move into our new location. We thank God for His provisions.
I prayed for friendships and now I have an overwhelming abundance of them. I prayed for a husband and now I have the most God loving one (imo). I prayed for a faithful and sound church and I’m in one with amazing men in leadership. Glory to God!
I often pray for the Lord to make me kind, warm, and welcoming. Let me tell you why.
When I was 7, my step-mom took me, my brother, and her 3 daughters to the Walgreens. I was following them through the store (bc I was 7) and at one point my step-mom stopped and looked at me.
For the record, Biblical Counseling is NOT:
- Simply giving Bible verses.
- Simply telling people to pray.
- Calling everything a sin without first understanding the person's struggle.
- Attributing any unexplainable condition or disorder to demonic possession or sin.
