I build things when tools frustrate me.
Right now Iβm experimenting with turning AI-generated images
into cleaner, more usable SVGs.
Sharing progress, failures, and learnings here.
Created a service
and no one is visiting
- png to svg service
- customized AI model used
- 100% guarantee this is better than
any svg converter in the world
thought it would fly right after launch
but it's not π₯²
every month brings a better AI img generator
the output is still a flat png
can't move one element
can't isolate layer
can't tweak a curve
you can re-roll the prompt and hope
Generation was the easy part
Editing what you generated is hell
Showed a coworker the screen I'd been building for a week.
He asked why I didn't just have AI do it.
So I gave him the next one.
Day 2. Still going.
Even if AI is been used, design+FE work takes time dude
Spent 30+ minutes asking Midjourney to move one element.
Eventually gave up and built my own vectorizer.
PNG in, editable SVG out, ~30 seconds.
