Senior Planner for Lamar County Board of Supervisors as well as Volunteer Fire Fighter and Lieutenant for Oak Grove VFD. Certified Flood Plain Manager (CFM)
@TomProTraining@richstep911 Typically someone has the right to build in a flood zone as well as long as provisions are taken, if required by local regulations. Insurance companies play a big role in how the system is set up for risk purposes.
@TomProTraining@richstep911 That is common is small rural counties around the country. There is no federal mandate to adopt regulations. Any sort of adoption of regulations is by self will power of the local jurisdiction. Kerr county seems to have been attempting to address it, but not soon enough.
@TomProTraining@richstep911 In reading the article about the growth and location of the camp. It appears the 2019 expansion was prior to the local county adopting flood plain regulations. According the article it appears the county did not have any, or had very little regulations for flood plain.
@richstep911 So you are looking at a 2011 flood map superimposed over an aerial. Please see the map that I have screen shot prior to aerials being used. Then go back in the historical maps to 1979 if you can figure out which old panel #.
The place was started in 1929.
@jbulecza@WJTV Since the State Health Officer came out with a revised order. Could the governor explain the statutory mechanism which makes emergency orders backed by law? Believe some people do not get how the state law works. Thank you.
Here’s the chief medical officer at Acadian ambulance describing how bad the Covid situation is in south Louisiana. This man, during Katrina, decided who got airlifted out of New Orleans; people lived & died based on his decisions. To that point: watch the end of this video.

#Invest92L: What we know: Nothing there yet, models develop something, indications for heavy rain into the weekend. What we don't know: What exactly develops, where a system would go, who would see the heaviest rain. Models indicate this will be a slow to develop system. #BeOn4
@JeremyBurkeWave@MSTODAYnews Forrest County has Camp Shelby, and Desoto National Forest hampering any growth southward. Whereas Lamar County does not. In addition the retail & dining majors of Hattiesburg are now mostly located within Lamar County.
Each week since August, a team of LSU researchers suit up in protective gear as they collect and inspect wastewater samples beneath campus living halls with the hopes of spotting microscopic coronavirus samples that could indicate a potential outbreak.

Update: The executive director of Region 8 Mental Health said Blackwell grabbed the deputy's gun when leaving from the health institution after evaluation. https://t.co/oqZWrcK8D7
