A 14-year-old whose behavior showed repeated cries for help should not be tried as an adult. The adults who kept guns in the house where the troubled 14-year-old could get them should absolutely be tried as adults.
@aldemocrats Here’s the better response: “We own our mistakes. Our original filing was sloppy and we know it. We are working to do better. We can handle criticism, unlike the GOP candidate for president, who wants to jail anyone who criticizes him.”
Devastated to learn that the political scientist James C. Scott recently passed away. Such a generous, brilliant, and original thinker, from "Weapons of the Weak" to "Moral Economy of the Peasant" to "Seeing Like a State" to "Against the Grain."
Biden's age and poor debate showing is obviously a legit story, but what we've seen over the last week is a hysterical feeding frenzy aimed at some combination of self-vindication, settling old scores, claiming a scalp, and the desire of some in the media to have Trump back in power. If Biden can't campaign he should consider passing the torch, but the elite press (and especially the NYT) is desperately trying to will this into existence. And it's really gross.
@MattSimpson Well, I would bet they’re a tad busy, holding down a job and doing the vast majority of family work. The better question is where are the young men and fathers who are willing to support women in politics?
@JeffDarlington I read that Scheffler was driving on the median past traffic that was stopped because of a fatal accident. He ignored officers’ attempts to stop. He stopped only after an officer grabbed on to his car, pulling the officer for a distance. How is that a “misunderstanding”?
Sen Tuberville making the rounds to support Sen Katie Britt’s tradwife SOTU rebuttal, which she delivered in a fundy baby voice. Tuberville actually said: “She was picked as a housewife, not just a Senator. She did what she was asked to do. I thought she did a good job. And it’s hard when you’ve never done anything like that.”
I was going to do a video response to Katie Britt—from my kitchen—saying pretty much the same thing. But when someone does it much better, it’s best to step aside and just cheer them on. Well done.
@RepAndyBiggsAZ Do you have any evidence that even a single Hamas terrorist has entered the U.S.? If so, produce it. If not, you really should shut up.
This is so good. And this is so me:
So whenever people make sweeping claims about how the present is different from the past, I wanna grab ‘em by the lapels and shake ‘em: “How do you know?? Did you, like, watch a season of Mad Men??" https://t.co/Ad5uC2kZBr
David Brooks saying you should read Jane Austen to decide whom to marry & also you should prioritize marriage over career. Jane Austen was explicit about how important money and stability were in choosing a partner. I’m all about marriage but c’mon David Brooks. Sir.
This is a statement from two of the people who wrote Florida's new education standards on slavery. In it they give several names of people to exemplify slaves who learned skills they applied later in life.
Let's go through the supposed truth of this list one by one.
