The Church needs healthy models of women & men leading TOGETHER in mutuality, friendship, & collaboration.
MUTUALITY: Generously sharing power without competition
FRIENDSHIP: Enjoying welcome & warmth without suspicion
COLLABORATION: Creating brilliant things without rivalry
Whether you're Conservative or Progressive we love click bait - a story, a meme, a headline that reinforces an existing hatred for the other side. Even when all the facts come out, we double down.
This is how polarization works.
Jesus-followers transcend this madness, please!
Someone said, “What if we toured?”
Someone else forgot to stop us.

@howertonjosh Josh, I'm open to giving Trump the benefit of the doubt. It may have been a staff. But the fact he hasn't apologized for it (to my knowledge) is a MAJOR problem.
When your ideology becomes your identity, you don't see people, you see categories - "the illegals", "welfare queens", etc.
When we no longer see people, we become "de-humanized".
This is the exact opposite of how Jesus saw people.
Stop fearing biblical errors
We often act as if finding one minor discrepancy in the Bible pulls the bottom block out and crashes the whole system. But consider this: The early Church turned the world upside down for decades before the New Testament was even finished or compiled.
They didn't rely on a perfect text; they relied on a Risen Savior.
If the tomb is empty, a minor scribal variation doesn't change the fact that Jesus is Lord.

@HwsEleutheroi Well, if “church” is an event or a building then I can see your concern. However, you should know better. That’s not what the church is! The church never closes. We are activated wherever we are. This is a rather immature and self-righteous post. Do better @HwsEleutheroi.
Jesus did not treat anyone as a category. I don't think we realize how scandalous this was.
Every single person that Jesus encountered received fresh grace to be seen as an Image-Bearer not as a "them".
If we saw every person as "one-of-a-kind" we'd confound the world.
This is a fallacy called “false dilemma,” in which two options are presented as if they are the only options and are mutually exclusive.
Luther is correct to say “we are not saved by our freedom of decision,” just as the prodigal son was not restored by his free decision to return home. He was restored by the choice of the Father to forgive him upon his return (ie by grace through faith).
Also, we all agree “predestination is 100% biblical.” God destined beforehand that whosoever looks to Him in faith will be healed (like the serpent in the wilderness-Jn 3:13-16). Nothing in scripture says God predetermines who will and won’t believe in Him. That concept is man-made and not from scripture.
The New York pastor says authenticity, honesty and “flat-footed preaching” are what people actually want now—and churches that won’t pivot may miss what God is doing.
