Hundreds of school board members from across Kansas hearing from Kansas Education Commissioner Randy Watson during #KASBConvention about great work and challenges in Kansas public schools #ksleg#ksed
@MLBOIG Ks PTA also opposed this SubSB83 voucher bill because it diverts public funds to pay for private school tuition. Also because NO new funds were added to make teacher pay more competitive. The inflation adjustment is restoration of previous cuts.
Hey Kansas taxpayers, read the fine print. When SB 83 is fully phased in, your tax dollars will be used to help students from wealthy families to attend non-public schools. A family of 4 earning $180,000 would be eligible for the vouchers #ksleg#ksed
Hmm… so maybe vouchers aren’t a good idea for Kansas? Let your legislators know you oppose school vouchers and public funds going to private and home schools. #ksleg#ksed
@KsCommissioner issuing calls to action to all schools 1. Lower chronic absenteeism immediately. We can’t teach kids if they aren’t there. 2. Move more students out of Level 1 academic performance.
With the change of the new district boundaries, USD#400 is now represented by Jim Porter. Mr. Porter is a former superintendent, a lifetime educator, and the current Chair of the State Board of Education. Jim has served Kansas schools well! My vote is for Jim Porter on Aug. 2.
