Clear and compelling interview with @baym on the harm of cutting funding to antibiotic research:

This affects so much of modern medicine; many cancer treatments, including regimens with curative intent, are only safe because of effective antibiotics.
My lab at UCSF (https://t.co/4FI7uEPTjv) is looking to recruit multiple postdocs across the spectrum of wet/dry lab interests to contribute to our research in synthetic gene regulation, combinatorial genetics, and tissue biology (including liver biology and immuno-oncology). We esp. welcome individuals who add to our capabilities and perspectives in computation or specific biological domains in tissue biology. Where appropriate there would be exceptional opportunities to work collaboratively with the help of junior specialists in the lab, as well as with other UCSF labs with complementary expertise.

@amcdarnell@chidley_chris@Duke_PCB For all the trainees out there, if you are looking for a place to do rigorous, creative, and impactful science look no further!! @amcdarnell and @chidley_chris are two of the kindest, most thoughtful scientists I know -- congratulations on starting your independent labs!
"in that most prestigious of [academic] places, the overriding emotion was fear. Fear that grants wouldn’t be renewed, fear that work would be scooped, fear of failure." https://t.co/l65zOir1iY via @TIRscienceblog
I am excited to share a part of my postdoctoral work that came out today in @Nature.
We developed a single-cell nascent RNA sequencing method (scGRO-seq) that, among other applications, can help generate enhancer-gene maps. 🧵1/13

Now published @NatureCellBio📢 Using CRISPRi/a screening, we dive deep into the transporters driving essential nutrient import into cells. Discover more about amino acid transport, metabolism, ferroptosis, and environmental impacts on tumor growth here: https://t.co/hxTp4ABi3l
We are profoundly grateful that Dr. Ruth Gottesman, Professor Emerita of Pediatrics at @EinsteinMed, has made a transformational gift to #MontefioreEinstein—the largest to any medical school in the country—that ensures no student has to pay tuition again. https://t.co/XOy9HZLbfD
