Did you know there’s a time capsule of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. items under Freedom Plaza?
OTD in 1988, a 500 lb. cylindrical time capsule was placed under Freedom Plaza. It includes MLK’s clerical robes, his Bible, & a 51-star flag (in hopes DC would be a state before 2088!)
❄️ Attention #DC Business Owners❄️
You are responsible for clearing snow and ice from your outdoor dining areas and ensuring sidewalks remain accessible for all. Let's keep DC safe, walkable, and business-friendly!

❄️ Remember to shovel your sidewalks!
Un-shoveled snow can create safety hazards that result in falls and injuries. For the safety of all residents and business owners, DPW wants to remind citizens that it is their responsibility to shovel snow from their property within the first eight hours after a snow event.
Let’s work together to keep our community safe and accessible for all. #SnowReadyDC

🚛 Since 12 PM, our crews have been salting and treating all DC roads, including snow emergency routes and residential roads, in preparation for the winter weather. When snow reaches two inches, our plows will hit the streets to keep roads clear and safe. 🚗 Important Reminder:
• Avoid parking on snow emergency routes to give plows full access. • Vehicles parked on these routes may face fines or towing. • 📍 Check the Snow Emergency Route Map at https://t.co/QRRWmSVA1m Let’s work together to keep DC safe and moving efficiently.
