Luxon on Hosking this morning said he wanted the RBNZ to cut the OCR by 50, not 25bps. Trumpian approach, openly showing disregard for the RBNZ's independence, by pressuring it to stimulate the economy. Particularly bad at the moment, as the Govt is due to appoint a new Governor.
I’ve reported 18 wars over 35 years. I’ve been shot at, kidnapped, threatened, nearly raped. I’ve lost friends from Sarajevo to Syria. I thought I’d seen the worst of humanity. I was wrong. Nothing compares to Gaza — or the complicity letting it happen.

Transnational crime is a common challenge encountered by all countries requiring cooperation to tackle.
On the opening of a new FBI office in Wellington with a permanent Legat position, we have taken note of the assertions by the American side, as well as the remarks by relevant New Zealand Ministers in response to the media.
We believe that relevant cooperation should not target any third party. And we strongly oppose any attempt to make groundless assertions or vilification against China out of the Cold War mentality. Such acts are against people’s will and are doomed to fail.
The Minister was pleased to host FBI Director Kash Patel for talks in Wellington yesterday.
They discussed:
-the close security relationship between New Zealand and the United States;
-law and order issues facing the Pacific; and
-New Zealand-US cooperation here and in the Pacific.

Mike Hosking on the Trump kool-aid this morning.
"When you have funded the war, a war that is going nowhere, you call the shots. Europe has watched, for three years now, a conflict funded to a fraction of the extent the Americans did."
Actual Ukraine funding:
Not only do disabled people have rules on what they can purchase, millions of dollars is spent by the Govt on external agencies who manage the cash. No other support is micro-managed in this way... why aren't disabled people trusted?

@winstonpeters Calm down Winston. There was no meeting - mainly just talk about how misquided you are when it comes to the media. No one is going to censor you, mate.
Sad day for democracy. Winston’s people have had the Bowen Select Committee rooms deemed “office space” which means we can’t film where we’ve always been able to. #DemocracyDiesInTheDark
Rawiri Waititi was not in Parliament to hear he has been suspended (for 24 hours) after appearing to substantially breach a name suppression in an active court case ... because he is at fashion week 💅
