On May 19, 2026, three women from Bayport, Long Island were indicted in connection with the torture and murder of 7-year-old Jor’Dynn Duncan. Emily Kelly, 50, the legal guardian and fiancée of Jor’Dynn’s incarcerated father, faces Murder in the Second Degree. Her mother, Barbara Renner, 75, faces Manslaughter in the Second Degree. Her daughter, Elyssa Seymore, 24, faces Unlawful Imprisonment in the First Degree. All three have pleaded not guilty.

Jor’Dynn was found to have approximately 90 injuries on her body, including whip marks and internal wounds from sharp force trauma. She died in December 2025 from an untreated infection. She had missed dozens of school days. Prosecutors say the abuse was filmed and discussed in text messages. And still, no one saved her.

This is not just a crime. This is a systemic failure.
Where was child protective services? Where were the mandatory reporters? How does a little Black girl accumulate 90 injuries before anyone asks questions?
Jor’Dynn deserved protection. She deserved advocacy. She deserved to live.

Say her name. 🕊️ Jor’Dynn Rose Duncan.

Gianna’s father was taken from her six years ago today. George Floyd’s life mattered not only to those who loved him, but to all of us who still believe in the dignity of every human being.

As we remember him, let us also remember what remains before us. Mourning must move us toward moral courage. Grief must move us toward justice. And love must move us to create a world where no child has to carry this kind of loss because of violence and dehumanization.

Please continue to lift up Gianna and all who love and miss him.
