@HouseDemocrats
Oh, THIS is rich. The people who BUILT the housing crisis are now clutching their pearls over a one-liner.
Let me set the scene for everyone.
The median age of a first-time homebuyer in America is now 40 years old. In 1950, it was 25. Fifteen years. Gone. You didn't lose that time to greedy landlords or hedge funds or some invisible hand of capitalism you like to scold at press conferences. You lost it to 90 years of CONGRESSIONAL VOTES. YOUR votes. YOUR regulations. YOUR signatures.
Starter homes are not just unaffordable now. In most of this country, they are LITERALLY ILLEGAL TO BUILD. Minimum lot size requirements, single-family-only zoning, environmental review weaponized by NIMBY neighbors who plant "In This House We Believe" signs and then sue to block affordable housing in their own backyard. Your constituents. Your donors.
In 1999, Bill Clinton signed the repeal of the Glass-Steagall provisions that FDR put in place specifically to prevent trading bundled mortgages like stock. FDR understood why that was dangerous. Clinton didn't -- or didn't care. What followed was entirely predictable. And somebody called it. Several somebodies. Congress watched it happen and did nothing. You know what came next. 2008.
Then Biden's Autopen walked into the Oval Office and added 21 percent cumulative inflation in four years. Lumber. Concrete. Steel. Diesel. Every material that goes into building a house. All of it went up. Mortgage rates climbed from 3 percent to over 7. And every homeowner sitting on a 2.75 percent note stopped selling -- because why on earth would they? So inventory froze. The shortage got catastrophically worse.
And your solution? A $25,000 first-time homebuyer subsidy. Which doesn't build a single house. Which increases demand without touching supply. Which gets absorbed immediately by the price increase it causes. Quinn's First Law of Liberalism: "Liberalism always generates the exact opposite of its stated intent." In action. AGAIN.
You are a Jobbernowl caucus holding a press conference about a problem you built, vote by vote, decade by decade, and you have the absolute audacity to point at someone else.
What is next -- you are going to claim you didn't vote for the regulations that made the starter home illegal... wait, I just checked the record. YOU DID.
THAT is what is a slap in the face to the American people.
But what do I know -- I am only a science teacher who explains cause and effect for a living, feeds a family of six on a teacher's salary using the envelope budgeting system, and has watched every single government "fix" for housing make it worse for the students in my classroom who will never be able to afford to own the homes I grew up assuming they could.

Economist Thomas Sowell was once a Marxist, but now he advocates for free markets.
"What was your wake-up to what was wrong with [Marxism]?" @RubinReport asked him.
"Facts," Sowell replies.
Here’s why I admire Sowell:
I'm delighted to report that Suicidal Empathy has now been five weeks straight on The New York Times Bestseller List, having debuted as an Instant #1 in its first week!

Since 1963, 75% of all nationwide injunctions have been against President Trump.
90% of those injunctions came from Democrat-appointed judges.
Yet the Admin has a 92% win rate at SCOTUS.
President Trump isn’t the one abusing his power. It’s Democrat-appointed judges.
The California elections prove one thing to me:
Leftists are truly in a cult. That, or their thinking is very cult-like.
If I lived in a city where there was garbage on the streets, open drug use, fires and destruction, graffiti, and the *one* person who could directly do something about it was like “this is horrible… someone should do something about this…” you can bet your sweet Aunt Petunia I’d be voting for the guy who is telling everyone he’s going to do something about it.
Instead, they’ll sit in their filth and grime and say “this is fine… as long as a Republican isn’t in charge, this is fine.”
Someone make it make sense to me…

@jemelehill you are an absolute imbecile. This is not equal expressions. I don't believe that Dart would call out his teammate for simply introducing the Pres. Biden (or whoever) and you know it, but you are a fool
@dandinohill low information voters and, even more so, not paying attention to civics, world events and being overly cynical, even when we should be cynical/skeptical, but not to the point that paying attention does not matter ~ it does.
