If you, a person with no specific training or expertise in a given field, have an opinion that directly contradicts the majority of actual experts in that field, then perhaps it’s not so much “controversial” as it is *incorrect.*
This week almost every patient I saw in the ED waited >6hrs.
I told each patient I'm sorry they had to wait. Not because I felt responsible but because I felt bad for them.
A "system" delivering "emergent" care regularly >6-12hrs is no long a system but rather a failure.
“‘Idaho calls itself a quote ‘pro-life state,’ but the Idaho Legislature doesn’t care about the death of moms’” — the dilemma of ob/gyns in abortion restrictive states, and how general women’s health erodes when abortion access is threatened https://t.co/nFfD7fav19
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:
“We have very successful class-based Affirmative Action admissions policies at elite colleges and universities. It's been working quite well for rich and powerful families for generations.
Maybe we should talk about that…”
The only Democracy in the middle east just limited the Supreme Court's ability to exercise judicial oversight over government corruption...led by a Prime Minister indicted for government corruption.
Where is the accountability? Where is the justice?
@DocMCohen For a while they offered to keep FOBT if every doc did an annual certification course in performing and interpreting it 🧐 you can imagine how well that landed.
@DocMCohen All point of care testing has been removed from our ED over the years - no urine preg dip, even FOBT. I kid you not, the explanation was “docs and nurses are not qualified to perform or interpret point of care tests so all must be done at the lab”.
So you mean like the men in every cabinet? Oh sorry did you think male dominated cabinets were created based on merit rather than gender discrimination? Don’t be silly.
The evidence tells us that for-profit surgical delivery didn't improve wait times in Western Canada.…so why is the Ontario government telling us that for-profit surgical delivery will work here?

“Can you go to a warming center?”
“No, they are all full.”
If you think John Tory and City Council did a good job then go sleep outside tonight and reconsider.
Not good enough, Toronto.
@RogersHistory Counterpoint: so what? School isn’t meant to be jail. Let your students go to the bathroom, even if they have another reason to leave the classroom not immediately obvious to you.
RCTs were used to avoid relying on anecdote for medical treatments.
I.e. does this drug work? Let's try in x group not in y group and see if there is a difference.
It is not used for seatbelts because you can use science and engineering to DIRECTLY ANSWER that they work.
Tent city and breadline in the heart of one of the world’s richest cities
No, I don’t care who the ex-mayor had consensual sex with
Yes, I do care that a rich city is letting citizens freeze and starve
ID proponents of surgical masking on COVID wards, often site a handful of systematic reviews to defend their position.
Spurred by @AntibioticDoc's thread and @McDevonMD's tweet below - I did some digging.
Was MacIntyre 2013 covered in these reviews, and if so, how?
