A Calgary noise bylaw got Danielle Smith's attention faster than the voter list data leak exposing the private information of three million Albertans.
Just sit with that for a minute.
BSides Calgary 2026: HELP Needed!
First, we want to say thank you to the community. From those individuals getting the word out for our May 25-26th event, to paper submissions (a record number this year), volunteer submissions, community groups (a record number, too), and those sponsors confirmed this year, thank you. Your support is what makes us do what we do.
However, this is where the rubber hits the road. Given the not insignificant cost it takes to plan, setup, and execute an event like this, where (thankfully) we’ve seen enormous growth over the years, we need significantly more funds year over year to operate. Changes to venue, the cost of ‘things’ – it all adds up. Cash flow before and during the event is always interesting – we, for example, don’t see ticket sales funds until after the event is complete.
One cost that I should state you won’t see - is the tireless effort by our board and coordinators - that receive only your thanks and appreciation. Zero stipend or compensation goes back to these volunteers. So, if you’re chatting with them, please know they’re doing this from their heart.
We have a few options for the event, regarding making it run:
· Find at minimum one Gold, four Silver, and a recently reopened Bronze sponsor spot (due to a scheduling conflict) very soon, to pay the deposits and setup costs. This is the bare minimum we could run with.
· Significantly increase the cost of tickets. This concerns our board as it increases the barrier to entry and likely reduces opportunities for some to attend the event; our student tickets price for example are significantly subsidized to reduce that barrier.
· Not run. Give sponsors back their funds, pack up and go home.
As you can tell, we’ve chosen option 1. We hope you do too.
If you know of any company that would be interested in sponsoring this great event, please get them in contact with us, share this out, etc. We’re here and ready to answer any questions they may have at [email protected]. Our sign-up form is here: https://t.co/6UvmAqyNpe.

@haveibeenpwned I was informed of two accounts being in the breach this morning. Curiously, I was never informed or contacted by @CanadianTire last year - supposedly as the data exposed for me didn’t include this information.

Okay folks, the first release of the new #AADInternals OSINT tool requiring authentication is out now:
https://t.co/erK7bISoP3
It is still ugly as hell but should do the trick.
To use the tool, you need an Entra ID account with a non-default (.onmicrosoft.com) domain name.
Let that bitch bring it. Good luck to her finding a lawyer willing to represent her who would have the necessary security clearance to so much as smell the evidence.
She damn well knows better than to make that dare.
We are very excited to announce that Volatility 3 has reached parity with Volatility 2! With this achievement, Volatility 2 is now deprecated. See the full details in our blog post: https://t.co/Vd8cGVe6ap
