It’s simple, claiming it’s "100% proven" there were no horses in the Americas in 600 BC fundamentally misunderstands how archaeology works.
Absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence.
1. The Fossil Lottery: Fossilization is incredibly rare. If isolated pockets survived in remote regions, the odds of us finding those specific bones are close to zero. Look at the Wrangel Island mammoths, they survived until 1650 BC, 8,000 years longer than we initially thought.
2. Indigenous Oral History Was Right: Mainstream history long insisted Native Americans didn't widely have horses until after 1680. But a landmark 2023 study proved Indigenous nations were breeding, feeding, and riding horses decades before Europeans arrived in those areas, which validated Indigenous timelines over colonial records.
3 eDNA Shifts: Modern environmental DNA testing (sampling ancient dirt for microscopic hair/skin particles) has already proven horses persisted in North America thousands of years longer than the traditional bone record ever showed.
So saying we currently lack definitive fossil proof for 600 BC is fair. Saying it's "100% disproven" ignores both the reality of scientific discovery and centuries of Indigenous historical knowledge.
Archaeology is an incomplete jigsaw puzzle, not a closed book.
All of this is irrelevant though, if indisputable evidence was found of horses in the Americas in 600 BC, it wouldn’t increase your belief in the Book of Mormon being true.
Members of the Church of Jesus Christ love, read and ponder the words in the Bible, and believe it to be the word of God.
1. Colossians 1:15-16: all things were created by God, making all God’s children. Since God gave all agency, Satan was free to chose his path.
2. Luke 2:40, 53: it is clear that Christ progressed and grew in wisdom.
3. John 17:21–2: It is clear what Christ means when he says they are one. The doctrine of the trinity is not found in the New Testament, and honest reading and study confirms that God the Father and His son Jesus Christ are separate individuals, one in purpose, serving as one God. The doctrine of the trinity was not adopted until the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD.
4. Romans 8:16–17: teaches we are joint heirs with Christ, and Matthew 5:48: teaches we must become Perfect like Christ is perfect.
Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints believe that Jesus Christ is the savior and redeemer of the world. They believe He suffered and died for sins. They believe it is only through faith in Christ and His grace that we can be saved. Members of the faith pray to the Father in Christ’s name just as Jesus taught. They feel a personal relationship with him. They strive to follow His teachings, they love Him.
@JarheadFrog That literally doesn’t make any sense, you have no idea what you’re taking about. And no commentator cares about CFB more than @JoshPateCFB
@mtntallpaul College got expensive when the government expanded easy, no credit check means loans to everyone and schools just raised prices to match. So even a “useful” degree you’re walking away with $50k in debt.
