@midnightmangler@gregnacu@AmigamagazineGA I disagree. The marketing message fits right in with the original Commodore ethos, and does resonate with people I know.
I get that the fanbase wanted something else (no agreement on what), but this does make business sense. The article explains it pretty clearly.
@Nobody_kot@CommodoreBlog I agree they're trying to develop a brand language that crosses product lines. I actually do find those versions of the phone moderately interesting, but not enough to preorder.
@SegaSnatchers@CommodoreBlog There is a market. Whether it's big enough and whether they have the resources to reach them effectively is a valid question.
Based on their marketing, it *appears* to be more than a cheap, rebranded flip-phone.
These are just facts. They might fail, but I wish them well.
@gregnacu@CommodoreBlog Some of my kids find it interesting. According to the marketing, the phone can do most of what smartphones can do, so the comparison with cheap call-only flip phones is probably invalid.
@virtuallyfun@CommodoreBlog There's definitely a market for it. Whether that market is large enough and whether they can market it enough is a valid question. I respect the ambition; it fits into Commodore's original ethos, like Jack Tramiel's counter-cultural marketing.
@Shawan4Freedom@chiefschicktx The contract vendors have to sign with the credit card service specifically forbids charging extra for using a credit card. Restaurants are in these Catch-22 situations from multiple angles (the laws that preserve tip culture are another).
@masontdoyle The same applies to negative restaurant reviews. If a manager sets boundaries on a guest you can be sure they'll fabricate a negative review later (I speak from experience).
@gregnacu I recently installed mine on a breadbin C64 after using it on a C128D, but it's not stable with my 1541 Ultimate II. I'm hoping adding the timing signal will resolve it.
@StStymie I've never been in a ward I loved, and only occasionally found people I would hang out with. The good news is the Lord is still there and the ordinances are the same.
