Yoweri Museveni loves (loved?) talking to country. Either writes us a long love letter or asks all media houses to broadcast him.
If he does not talk to country before end of week, then, it is fair to conclude our man is under house arrest.
The most slow-motioned coup ever!
It makes no sense to ban NTV from covering Parliament.
Creating an environment where journalism thrives works in everyone’s favour.
Parliament must do the right thing..
@OfwonoOpondo warns 'those misusing their positions of state to be compared with the abhorrent and discredited era of Idi Amin & Milton Obote to know that no situation is permanent. There is no need for stripping a man naked, showing his nudes in public and bragging about it.'
While appearing before the Joint Committee on Defence & Internal Affairs and Legal & Parliamentary ( @Parliament_Ug ) Affairs, the Governor of @BOU_Official Dr. Michael Atingi-Ego concluded his submission on behalf of the bank by noting, and I quote:
"True national sovereignty is built on economic strength and financial independence. While the goal of protecting national interests is legitimate, the Protection of Sovereignty Bill 2026, as currently drafted, risks reversing three decades of successful financial development through liberalisation that has sustained economic growth.
By adopting these technical refinements, Parliament can safeguard the nation without compromising the world-class financial infrastructure essential for Uganda's journey to a USD 500 billion economy."
Bank of Uganda, too, is simply inviting the movers of this draconian Bill to BIN IT!
The Bill will pass. After all is said and done it will pass. It will not be the last. More bills worse than it are on their way and they will pass too.
.@Kalinaki: So, what next for your columnist, and the column? Both will take a short break to reflect and recharge; the column will return in a few weeks, hopefully with more zing and zest. The columnist has had the remarkable privilege of a long working life without ever having had to work a day in his life; such is the joy of journalism.

Congratulations to the Super Bowl champion @Seahawks! This defense was special. MVP Kenneth Walker was dominant. And Sam Darnold gave us one of the best comeback stories in a long time. Enjoy the celebration.
Just cheated death in my electoral area of Kalungu District where I’ve been actively engaged with monitoring the local government polls for our NUP flag bearers particularly in Lukaya Town Council. At around 18:30hrs today as I drove from our party offices to home, I was ambushed by a group of about 6 armed men who identified themselves as aides to my former competitor Hon. Vincent Ssempijja.
Their intent was to clearly end my life. Out of panic, I had to drift the car in a U-turn and they chased after me on Boda Bodas. They had machetes and sticks which they intended to use to finish me. Fortunately I drove off to a nearby garage in Lukaya and I abandoned the car over there after noticing that this vigilante group was unrelenting in its pursuit. I miraculously managed to escape on a Boda Boda and I’m now somehow safe.
It’s very unfortunate that the individuals we competed with have turned politics into a do or die game. We are doomed as a country if we still have individuals who are baying for the blood of their political opponents. Our country is headed for the worst if this is what is being set as an example to our political arena.
The sacrifices of the people of Kalungu East cannot be in vain just because of interests of just one individual. I’m thankful to counsel @SamMuyizzimuli for standing with me as we pursued justice. The court has upheld our victory after finding tampered seals. Thank you Kalungu, thank you God. Oli Munene nyo KATONDA 🙏
@sejudav Our oppressors are here in Africa with us. They say they are revolutionaries, pan-Africanists, & claim they want 2 unite Africa while dividing the societies they rule. They steal & then condemn corruption.
Thinking or claiming that they are in America or Europe is diversionary.
Now they’re going to waste money giving her a lead car and a brand new LC300 with UG..…C plates — on top of the benefits she’s already entitled to as former IGG. No one hates Uganda more than Museveni
Busoga College Mwiri will officially unveil its newly constructed Main Gate during the highly anticipated Homecoming event on Saturday, November 1st, 2025.
Listen to Rwanda's ICT minister Paula Ingabire talk about AI and partnerships with Gates Foundation. Then, turn to Uganda's ICT minister, Chris Baryomunsi, to explain the rudimentary state of IT in Ugandda schools. Cheese and chalk!
