Today, once again, my wife and I are preaching the Gospel together. Please keep us in your prayers as we share the Good News of Jesus Christ. May God protect us, open hearts to His Word, and bring many souls to salvation. All glory to God! ✝️🙏
how do you handle users and tenancy in your application?
Are you using OAuth (or SAML)? A custom users table or some enterprise-wide standard?
Are you using Active Directory, Clerk, Okta, Auth.0, Spring Authorization Server, etc?
Sound off!
Hard truth: It's not your manager's job to motivate you. It's yours. Their job is to remove obstacles, provide clarity, and create conditions for success. Your job is to bring the energy, talent, and commitment. Successful people never outsource their ambition.
We started 8090 a few years ago on the belief this motion would become widespread. We’ve been surprised by how fast it has taken hold. That said, it’s still so early in this game.
Software license revenue is $1T annually. Services and T&M consulting around those licenses is $4T annually.
All of this will merge into a new $5T super-category and whatever happens from there is anyone’s guess. But I applaud $SBUX for ripping off the bandaid - they clearly see the forest from the trees.
Leaders are NOT:
- pleasure-seekers
- comfort-zoners
- buck-passers
Leaders ARE:
- mission-finders
- boundary-pushers
- shot-takers
They realize God-sized opportunities require God-sized courage. They take radical steps of obedience knowing God will show up!
The Leadership Win
When we sense and feel God’s pleasure while we lead, our win changes. When we release all our talents, skills, and gifts for God’s glory, we become the hands and feet of Jesus. Winning is becoming more like Jesus today. To win is to honor Him!
This gets to the core of one of the central debates in AI.
If a closed stack is always perpetually at the frontier by a wide margin, then being vertically integrated, and gate keeping in the US can work. Because you always have control over who gets access to the best technology, and it will be in high enough demand that it always favors you.
If, however, open weights AI can remain a close second to frontier intelligence, then the equation reverses. With a highly regulated approach, you’ll own the frontier market still, but the vast majority of tokens used will go to an alternative stack. That stack will include the model and the underlying hardware that runs it, in the limit. And that stack will be controlled and monetized by someone else.
Depending on your belief on how close to the frontier open weights can remain -and similarly what percentage of tokens will go through the frontier vs. everything else- your opinion will be different on how to regulate and control AI.
Oklahoma HC Skip Johnson on being selfless teammates and in life.
“And we're trying to teach them in our culture to be selfless, to pick each other up. I mean, it's really what life's about. You think Jesus Christ was selfless? Absolutely. I mean, we live our life for that because of that reason.”
“So I think that's the biggest difference. Man, if you can teach those young men to be selfless in a selfish world, is really big to me. It's really big to me. When nobody cares who gets the credit, you can do amazing things. It's pretty amazing. And we're a reflection of those guys not caring.” — @CoachJohnsonOU

The way some industries use titles is fascinating.
"In the game we are opponents, but after the game we are all Christians, we are all brothers, and we said a little prayer because we believe that Jesus is glorified through the game."

Read this twice:
Your body cannot heal from a state
it is trying to survive.
Chronic stress isn’t just exhausting.
It’s chaotic.
It’s disruptive.
It’s costly to every system in your body.
Safety creates healing.
Survival creates symptoms.
Job openings explode higher in Apr by 731k to 7.6 million, blowing away expectations; but at the same time, hires and total separations plunge - possibly indicative of a severe skill mismatch in the labor market as well as increased uncertainty on the part of workers:
In the 1900s, hospitals used to prioritize sun exposure as part of the healing process.
Florence Nightingale wrote it herself: "Direct sunlight is necessary for speedy recovery."
Entire wards were designed around windows. London hospitals had departments dedicated to sun therapy.
But somewhere along the way, we replaced sun exposure with fluorescent lights and called it "healthy".
Modern medicine got very good at curing things, but in doing so, it stopped prioritizing an environment that healed people.
It's great to see hospitals bringing this back.
The enemy wants you caught up in all the little distractions of life. But God’s path always wins.
Abide faithfully in His truth, love and plan for your life.
For all the fluoride in the water, there is also a mountain stream a kid could still drink from with his hands.
For all the pesticides being sprayed across the fields, there is also a sunflower turning toward the sun without being told.
For all the geoengineering overhead, there is also a thunderstorm rolling in like the voice of God.
For all the synthetic food engineered to weaken you, there is also a peach in summer that tastes like nostalgia.
For all the propaganda piped through the screens, there is also a husband writing a song for his wife in a kitchen.
For all the algorithms designed to fragment you, there is also a conversation with a friend who has known you for twenty years.
For all the AI generating slop, there is also a child drawing her mother for the first time.
For all the music engineered to numb you, there is also a violin built by hand for a stranger not yet born.
For all the architecture of control, there is also a cathedral built over centuries by men who knew they would never see it finished.
For all the institutional lying, there is also a father telling his son the hard truth.
For all the trauma being inherited from your line, there is also a mother breaking the cycle in real time.
The culture wants you obsessed with what's killing you. The real work is staying obsessed with what's keeping you alive.
Don’t let your attention become so completely captured by the poison that you forget the world is still aching with beauty.
NAILED IT: Jeff Bezos: “A nurse in Queens who makes $75K a year pays more than $12K a year in taxes. Does that really make sense?”
“So people talk about making the tax system more progressive. How about we start by having the nurse in Queens NOT pay taxes? At all!”
“Why is a nurse in Queens who makes $75K a year paying more than $1K a month in taxes?”
“That’s $1K a month that could help with rent or groceries or anything.”
“And by the way, do you know what that all adds up to? The bottom half of income earners in this country pay only 3% of the taxes. It’s only 3%.”
“We can find 3%. So we don’t have... it’s a small amount of money for the government. You know that. And the more I thought about it, to me, it’s kind of absurd that we’re doing this.”
“We shouldn’t be asking this nurse in Queens to send money to Washington — they should be sending her an apology. It really makes no sense.”
Exactly!
