We're in a weird era where a guy gets publicly shamed for running his sprinklers on a Tuesday, while a data center the size of a Costco quietly drains a reservoir so AI can generate a picture of your cat as a medieval knight. And the data center gets a tax incentive for it.
This is indefensible: Spraying glyphosate over wild lands is ecocide, and toxic to humans, of course. But there is one upside: It allows us to see the full corruption of our system, which pretends to be preoccupied with our health, even as it poisons the world behind our backs.
@9NEWS It's weird how every time there's a story about how uniquely bad things are getting in Colorado, 9 News spins it as being a "broader, national trend".
BlackRock’s shell company scam to skyrocket the cost of entire neighborhoods
BlackRock is buying homes at lower values and then selling those homes to themselves, to shell companies, for hundreds of thousands more. Here’s how the scam works
- Step one, the identify middle class neighborhoods with growth potential
- Step two, they buy hundreds of homes in cash, 20 to 30% above asking price
- Step three, regular families can't compete with unlimited corporate cash, they buy about 50+ homes in the neighborhood
- Step four, once they control enough inventory, they sell a few homes to shell companies that they already own with inflated prices, hundreds of thousands over what they bought them for
- Step five, those inflated sale prices become the new market rate
- Step six, your property taxes. And this is where it gets crazy. Your property taxes triple based on these fake sales
“So the Family that saved for 10 years to buy their first home outbid by a corporation with infinite money. The elderly couple who owned their home for 40 years forced out by property taxes they can't afford. Meanwhile, and this is where all the good money comes in for them, BlackRock rents these homes back to the same families they priced out”
“They're stealing the American Dream”
It's election time again Colorado!

@coloradodems What’s wild is that Democrats have had FULL CONTROL over this state for the past 7 years while cost of living has fucking skyrocketed, but it’s always someone else’s fault.
I wonder if it is just an "accident" that the prices Colorado consumers pay for goods and services have been increasing faster over the last four years than in any other state.
Colorado is number 1⃣ (with a dishtowel!)
@9NEWS 47th in safety huh? But I thought passing all those unconstitutional gun laws was supposed to make us safer. At least criminals are safer now I guess.
@denverpost Don't blame the people who have been in charge for years and have made all of the shitty policy decisions. It's not their fault. They're just helpless victims.
The glyphosate poison problem in America is so much bigger than anyone realizes
“Recent studies in the air and rainfall in the Southern United states is showing 75% of the rain, 75% of the air is contaminated with Roundup”
“You've got the Mississippi river, which collects over 80% of all the Roundup in the country. And then it's evaporating the whole time. So it's going into the air that you breathe, and then it goes into the clouds and then it rains down on us”
“The current statistics is that less than 1/10 of 1% of the roundup used on the planet actually hits a weed. The other 99.99% gets into the soil and in the water system and washes off.”
