Every disk drill protill and vertical tillage tool in the country should be cut up and sold for scrap tomorrow. I hope some people are learning some management strategies from guys that don’t have everything blowing. And for god sakes don’t harrow canola stubble in the spring
We don’t need a huge increase in fertilizer production. Some yes. But how about we start with not grossly over applying it? The industry needs to stop lying to farmers about how much they actually need. Start there and you’ll free up minimum 40% of current usage.
What’s the worst investment into your farm? I’ll start first equipment.
Buddy called me today has a 3000hr tractor and the motor went. A 600k tractor and the motor can’t make it 3000hr. Yet our 8300 has 6k hours and just runs. Ugh
So sick of beaver farmers in the area, what’s the point of this besides making the countryside look ugly and having lots of wind and no places for the animals to live anymore!
@FoulkShay@j_lew_21 If combine and support equipment truly cost $70/acre I would hire every single acre custom harvested. No headache and a lot less work.
American Farmers are getting screwed by American Companies taking advantage of a shitty situation. Definitely will disagree with what @JLinvilleFert says. We don’t have a Domestic issue we have a price issue with the Monopoly’s. America should come first with food security over other countries. So screwing the American Farmer because they can get more money shipping it overseas is an issue. Natty Gas is at a record low and our Nitrogen price is through the roof all while American Nitrogen plants aren’t even running at full capacity.
@BeetfarmerDave Working hard would do wonders. Too many “jobs” provide no satisfaction in completing anything or give no purpose. Get married, have kids, work hard.
Buy a 1/4 of farmland or a used tractor w/500 hours on it. Yes I know that won’t buy a 1/4 everywhere but I can’t spill a bag of corn seed and grow 200 bu corn here either.
The real question is who is in the market to spend $950k on a USED tractor w/ a 5yr note?!?!
Are we sure this doesn’t scale?
Perhaps we’re talking about the wrong scale?
Sure, a guy can’t run regenerative farms with 10k or 20k acres - but that’s a good thing.
A guy can do it with some help on 2500 acres. Which means 4x the number of farms vs the 10k model and 8x the number of farms vs the 20k operations.
That’s 4x and 8x the numbers of families farming.
In rural, farmable areas.
That’s 4x or 8x the numbers of kids in school. And 4x or 8x the tax base, which should mean 4x or 8x or more investment in infrastructure, making it 4x or 8x more likely a Main Street business is started, incentivizing even more growth.
It’s also 4x or 8x more people involved in nature. And in food production.
Which means 4x or 8x more people that care about their communities, and that are likely to vote in (or at least think about) local, state, and federal elections, which means 4x or 8x more chance that we can actually start fixing things again.
You say regenerative ag can’t feed the world, but I’d argue we’re already starving the entire country by not investing in getting more people involved in agriculture - especially when you look at the demographics and the upcoming societal changes.
There is abundance here on Earth. We were promised abundance. We just have to get out of our own way to make it happen.
Leftists like Jeff here love to pretend that it’s about the actual trains. lol
We all know, and they all know, it’s just a vehicle for massive fraud just like every other large government run program. And even in the miracle it was successful and clear of massive fraud, it’d become just another place for homeless and violent criminals to destroy in short order anyways. So we don’t want it. But sure we just don’t like trains lol
I fast and eat like a dog. It’s not expensive at all.
Milk, meat, eggs, vegetables (garden in season)
If you take out the brand names, packaging, pop, beer. If you eat 1lbs block of hamburger.. a chuck eye… some pork loin or chops
I don’t pay for John Stamos to do a Super Bowl commercial appearance for Doritos. I don’t pay for a wrapper of some convincing convenient protein bar. Plain Jane thank you mam
@benpattinson1@MSNBC Food really isn’t that expensive. People preferences are. Brand names, packaging, marketing, etc
Eat a lbs of ground beef and a baked potato. Or 4 eggs and some 🥕
Sure…boring
About 7 years ago @MSNBC stopped by our farm. After a long interview of me explaining my libertarian/agnostic/ultra conservative view of agriculture and politics they took 1 quote from the interview asking about my view of trumps 2019 MFP payments
“Any monkey can write a check”
Our farm operation has been one of the most conservative minded in the area. We’ve squeezed the nickel so hard we grew 🌽 off its 💩, I’ve farmed with old, paid for equipment most of my life. Debt just wasn’t ever an option so we just did without.
The local community… (farmer round table) called me a “liberal”… apparently since Libertarianism sounds like… liberal IDK, and anybody that doesn’t 🦜 @FoxNews is that…
7 years later a golden tractor is in the White House lawn next to the new Ball Room. @NutrienAgRetail just reported record profits and farms are struggling like the early - mid 80’s
Check out https://t.co/5xg5rbu7z1 if you want to see what narcissism looks like.
We don’t need another check or a loan. We need real conservative solutions.
Slash all subsidies. Let the market figure this shit out…. But we’re so deeply fucked up that it would be pretty painful for a time until things balanced out.
You can’t just keep buying votes. We don’t need more 🌽. We need 🥩 processing in every county
We need the mathematics of independently owned 🐖
We need Agriculture to work again like it did before politicians let the corporations pad their pockets at the expense of the family farm.
@schrieferranch Team gloves, more sanitary for both cow and person, also when done reaching in you don’t have to walk to the house and completely wash off from elbow/shoulder down. You Definitely can’t feel around as good with gloves on, I agree with that.
