@Sheikhspeare84 Markets are the right vehicle. The problem is that social capital must be imputed into economics to drive the price down. I.e. cap and trade. Altruism is just an evolved form of capitalism that combines economic ruthlessness with previously unquantifiable social harm.
@andrew__reed Doesn't reporting churn as negative seem a bit, numerically manipulative? Isn't this just "growth" that is increase LTV-CAC ratio from new/existing accounts?
Finance seems to struggles to evaluate models with two axes of growth (velocity + acceleration) in fixed cost world
1. Do other coronaviruses lessen impact of COVID-19 by training our immune systems? If they're ~90% similar, is that a "natural" in vivo vaccine?
2. analyzing viruses by shape = analyzing cancer by location: draws correlations where may not exist. Genetic correlation is optimal
@robmay Agree - anti-capitalism is the same impact at both ends of spectrum: single-player interference, or socialism. Must stay in the middle of the bell curve.
Also highly likely this is influenced by the tiktok trolling of the Nebraska campaign event; lots of data on this pattern...
#SCOTUS will decide in 2 consolidated cases whether U.S. corporations can be sued under the Alien Tort Statute, an 18th-century law that allows foreigners to bring lawsuits in US courts for serious violations of intl human rts laws
@NateSilver538 This is because the issue isn't temperature..the dependent variable is uv spectrum exposure (these are correlated to temperature due to longer days in summer).
Electromagnetic radiation (solar radiation, i.e. sunlight, and forms of uv) has long been an effective disinfectant.
I acknowledge that I will never truly understand, but I will stand.
Hate has no place in our societies, and it has no place in our hearts.
Black Lives Matter.
Opinion: Epicurism is focused on the maximization of the node in the network (maxing personal enjoyment). Stoicism is the maximization of the network itself (maxing value to society).
@leashless@sachinsq If we impute social and environmental costs into capitalistic models we can drive down the costs of those (environmental, social capital, etc). I've been considering that Altruism is an economic model that combines each of these concepts. Looking forward to reading your thoughts.
@davehoover@redsquirrel Always a pleasure working together. Very forward thinking business model! And pretty darn attractive for tech companies who need flexibility and maintaining context as the business needs grow and evolve.
@Leonlinsx@martin_casado@krdonnelly Fully agree @Leonlinsx . @martin_casado does that mean differentiation is a function of quality and brand (i.e. one accountant, one lawyer, etc.) Is better than another? Theoretically they also have no data moat...but maybe a knowledge moat? As it commoditizes, quality wins out
@martin_casado@Leonlinsx Re proprietary data...thinking about this from a population statistic vs sample statistic standpoint: with sample statistics certainly proprietary data, on population statistics (i.e. 2 sets of 1m health patient records), does that the same hold true?
@martin_casado@Leonlinsx +1 that data moats don't exist, but do you think ai moats on proprietary knowledge processes do? It's why some cognitive jobs (i.e. lawyers/doctors) get paid more than others IRL.
Also, not sure if compute costs are variable? Pretty big assumption there...thoughts?
Hypothesis: It is the seasonality of the EM spectrum(not temp.) that affects rate of UV radiation that kills airborne pathogens. Temp. is correlative not causal.
Simpler terms: Seasonal UV exposure is a key factor for why some viruses wane (caveat: many other factors exist).
@chrisalbon It's a combination of regulatory arbitrage and legal complexity/type of law (rule of reason vs. Per se).
Credentials: recovering lawyer, former GC, run a tech business (Ascent Regtech) focused on quantifying regulation and helping people follow the rules.
Happy to talk more!
@EconomicSecProj@ErinMConnelly I think a better reframing of this is that a lack of antitrust analysis and enforcement is the root cause, corporate consolidation is the symptom (there are times when it is economically efficient).
