We Are Students

Fighting for the voices of BTEC and Vocational Qualifications to be heard.

Email: [email protected]

[We Are Students @btecvoices]

We are are less likely to study at University after our course is complete, which is due to our course enabling us to go straight into work with bespoke skills and experience.

And since there’s no Oxbridge for vocational sectors, any surprise we’re treated as lesser? #btec

[We Are Students @btecvoices]

Thank you so much to the amazing @/colourfulactivist on Instagram for sharing our campaign. We are truly grateful for this.

Received great information today alongside this so we’re making progress!

Let’s keep sharing and raising awareness.

In conclusion.

Dear #alevel if you are part of the demographic who enjoy poking fun and jokes about us. Please consider the impact you are making towards how we’re viewed and treated.

Gooood morning.

Just a reminder that sincere jokes mocking a btec qualification and those taking one or simply saying ANYTHING implying the notion that btec is inferior/valueless compared to any other qualification..

..is not funny.

Your friends who take a btec will probably laugh like the rest of the group always do,

But they experience stress as you do, they hope for higher education as you do and they are scared as you are during this pandemic.

So unless agreed upon beforehand,

Stop.

Open Letter addressed to @Keir_Starmer

#DearKeir we have endured enough inconsideration and neglect.

We are asking you to take action.

Been a busy day contacting unions and student groups to try and broaden awareness of our campaign.

And since I'm now isolating it'll be a repeat for the next 10 days!

I urge people to get into contact with [email protected] and their local Student Union. -R

@ofqual @PearsonEdexcel can you assure students who have already taken exams in dangerous circumstances that their results will not be counted. No one's education should be valued by an exam they were forced to do during outrageous levels of rising covid cases.

@btecvoices @William07157238 @Keir_Starmer @UKLabour @KateGreenSU Make sure they throw away the exams the students did in the past week and give them top grades based on evidence handed in

[We Are Students @btecvoices]

An idea has been raised for all who wish to share this to contact their local MP.

You will be able to find them and their contact details by going to https://t.co/Sh6x2SK5p6

Hopefully sharing this with them will raise awareness within the party.

So grateful for all the shares and support this has received.

Thank you, for fighting with or for us.

However we must keep this going.

Goodnight all!

Open Letter T-15 minutes.

So much dedication, frustration and desperation has gone in to this letter. As many students as possible have been involved in it's production.

And we can't wait to share it.

See you at 7.

[We Are Students @btecvoices]

We are aware that new announcements state slightly less intolerable measures put in place for BTEC students.

But that doesn't eradicated the lack of equality we face and will continue to fight against.

#btec #btecexams

[We Are Students @btecvoices]

@Joannassmith1 @AoC_info They believe purely student voice is most beneficial for this letter - and that is definitely true. We do however have their solidarity :)

[We Are Students @btecvoices]

Thank you @AoC_info for responding today and for praising our idea.

In 3 hours our voices as students will shine through.

[We Are Students @btecvoices]

@William07157238 @AoC_info How frustrated we are in light of recent announcements regarding vocational and btec exams. It also addresses how neglected we’ve become as a whole.

[We Are Students @btecvoices]

Having not yet received an email back from @AoC_info it has been decided to release the open letter this evening at 7pm.

Prepare to share like crazy.

This must be received and understood by the Labour Party.

@EqualityForBTEC @educationgovuk Hey! We’re releasing an open letter to Keir Starmer this evening if you’d like to sign? Drop a dm if you need more info :)

[We Are Students @btecvoices]

I’d like to get a scope of who would be interested in regular zoom meetings for BTEC students.

It’d be great to connect us all and discuss what more we could do.

Who’s interested?
