@david_nix 15 years ago I stopped an interview for a Google SRE position when they asked me to write code on paper over the phone. I'm not sure the industry was ever better.
@MacGoogly My assumption is most people's opinions would be likely to be based on their own socioeconomic status and beliefs. Economies are complicated.
@editingemily That's genuinely interesting behavior. To get attention from criticizing or mocking you, either here or among their peers on another forum?
I can think of other possibilities, but that I'd rule out because "hate" is a high bar. Like trying to avoid an echo chamber.
@United if you measure how terrible a gate arrangement is by the number of employees it takes to manage it, the trainwreck that is C71 at @EWRairport easily wins. Funny that the decades old shuttle bus bandaid could be made so much worse.

I wish we had Chef YAML earlier so we would have had time for anecdotes of people realizing they were programming and switching to Ruby as intended.
it pisses me off for a few reasons, not the least of which is that from a systems perspective the economics here are fascinating but everyone taking low quality dunks is missing the opportunity to learn more about how money works
The hotel clerk at @bestwestern explained my key card was demagnetized, so I had to keep it away from phones, key fobs, and any other cards with magnetic strips. They smiled and suggested I hold it in my hand above my head all week.
