In Gaza, I, and I expect many others , are asking questions about whether the UN could and should have done more to prevent /limit this humanitarian disaster .

@PickardJE The situation in Gaza is deeply distressing. I entirely understand that citizens in any country want freedom. What I haven't seen is a large portion of those people advocating freedom for Palestinians, calling for freedom from Hamas who have been oppressing the civilians in Gaza

Whatever the lineage of current Israelis and Palestinians and land borders the only way forward is peaceful co- operation for mutual benefit and improved living conditions. I can't see how this can be achieved with Hamas governing.

@antonioguterres the appalling loss of life , both in Israel perpetrated by Hamas brutal terrorists, and in Gaza, is horrific. Is a UN Peacekeeping force in Gaza, in conjunction with immediate release of all Israeli hostages, an option to have a ceasefire that has been actively considered?

As human beings we can only hope to minimise all casualties. Hamas' barbaric activities put lives of Palestinian civilians at risk.The Palestinian people deserve better leadership, free of Hamas.

@sorcercerjafar @BenKentish It's great that you attended today's rally which was about releasing hostages taken by Hamas, and marched yesterday in support of peace. I didn't however hear Michael Gove call for more bombing unless I misheard. It's very important to careful in the choice of our words.

@emilykschrader A bad outcome for Israel which, to me, seems to be driven by retaining political power and protecting politicians, rather than doing the "right thing". Hopefully
the attempts to restrict the powers of the judiciary will ultimately be unsuccessful and rapidly overturned
