I like politics, democracy, and making people think
Hey Hi Hello! This account is for me to engage in conversations (and occasional discourse) without bugging friends and family.
That being said, I like to meet people where they are and try to stay civil.
(Best take on discourse - please watch)

@MontroseYou@_CharlesPreston It was called a "mansion tax" for a reason. The only people in 1M dollar homes are those rich enough to afford it - the rest of us would have seen the transfer tax decrease.
But y'all fell for the real estate industry lobbying.
@MontroseYou@_CharlesPreston You would pay a one time fee - it was a negligable raise on a small percentage. One time. If you sell a building for more than 1M. It's incredible to me that people think this would impact landlords. Who is regularly purchasing 1M dollar buildings?
Of course I don't.
@tmacnam@_CharlesPreston TRANSFER TAX. A one time tax. On a sale of a property.
I'm not going to blow this guy's replies up to yell at more of you idiots but I stg. It is so sad that your ignorance cost people a roof over their head. Maybe look up the things you vote on next time.
@MontroseYou@_CharlesPreston It's a real estate TRANSFER tax.
If this failed because people don't understand the difference I stg I am going to scream.
TRANSFER TAX. One time. When you sell a property for more than a million dollars.
Voters are so dumb 😭
@Tom10Nelson@_CharlesPreston You know what would actually lower rents?
Lower cost alternatives. So people aren't forced to choose between homelessness and an extra 1k a month for a roof and a bed. More affordable housing gives tenants leverage and breathing room. Great job Chicago.
@Tom10Nelson@_CharlesPreston You are afraid of landlords using this fee as a BS excuse to raise rents. So you are tossing out the opportunity to help the homeless as an acceptable loss.
SO sick of this. Rents are rising regardless. All you are doing is ensuring more people sleep on the streets now.
@ZuletaStan@_CharlesPreston He's saying more black voters clearly understand hardship and that something needs to change. Something other districts seem to be struggling to grasp. Wonder why that might be
@tmacnam@_CharlesPreston supply and demand only works if the "demand" isn't an essential need. Don't try and school others on what you are too dumb to understand yourself
@katystoll The irony that I just hit my limit with her yesterday, unfollowed her, and was immediately flooded with her tweets. Thankfully I don't get on here much but jfc. Gotta love this site.
@mind_morphotic@natalieymoore Right, why try to ever improve anything in Chicago ever? Don't you see that wanting good things for people, or things to change, is worthless?
Y'all are so ridiculously trained to never fight for anything. Go outside please.
@GallaeReal@Staroxvia@ZombHarris I'm not super familiar with whatever this situation is, but it reminds me so much of that Libs of Tiktok woman complaining about the media "harassing" her.
You chose to be a public and/or political figurehead. Your targets who you direct harassment at did not.
@patriot_melissa If you are going to try to dunk on us at least get your facts straight. Chicago is notorious for corrupt officials, not for election corruption. Keep living a life scared of your own shadow though. I'm sure it's pleasant.
@Log0out genuine question - how do states rights apply in any way to the presidency? President doesn't impact state legislatures. But does impact every person pretty evenly because of federal taxes. so why should some taxpayer voices matter less?
@SocDoneLeft@TheAntifaTurtle IT GETS WORSE ACTUALLY. It's 3 layers of FPTP!! (Sort of!)
Because this is a thing!! If no party reaches more than 50% of electoral votes, all the votes get entirely thrown out and the House of Representatives decides!! One vote per state!!!

@WillyOtterPop Okay, sorry, one more. Tldr; kids aren't a project. They are people. Even if they meant incredibly well, it appears like they approached said kid as someone to be primarily fixed and improved. At the expense of their wishes and happiness. This... doesn't look good.
@WillyOtterPop Idk. I'll stop here, and obviously you can take all this with a grain of salt. I wasn't there, I don't know any of you. But this is what a complete stranger pulls from this document when she went in fully expecting to land on the other side of this. Just... perspective.
