@KarlosBarel@MiamKitty Generally yes, but Cali made some interesting Pinot and even Syrah back in the day. And I love old Ridge Zinfandel, too. Producers like Dominus, Ridge and even Opus One make great Bordeaux style blends.
@MiamKitty@KarlosBarel If you ever get to Northern Florida I’d be pleased to arrange a dinner… actually a few great collectors in town (not just Cali). Maybe we could get @judahrhodie to come up!
@KarlosBarel@MiamKitty Gents also don’t sleep on California! Some amazing wines in the 50s/60s and of course the 70s/80s which are IMHO the golden years and drinking fabulously. So many great ones from Heitz, Dunn, Ridge, Mayacamas, Phelps…old school. Everything changed in the mid-90s.
@MiamKitty@KarlosBarel I get it… frankly I think the sweet spot for me is 20-40 years old for Barolo., like 1978-2004. Older can be very hit or miss. And younger can always use more development.
@judahrhodie@hkuppy Just book it. Worth the travel… NAOE is really special. And Hiden is a Mich star located behind a taco shop for snacks after dinner!
