RC selected "the dead groundhog" by Kirsten Bussière as the honourable mention for the 2023 Brebner Prize, saying: "I was thrilled by the visceral nature and its descriptions of roadkill and what happens to every body if left for dead out in the sun for too long... Well done!"
@cfmceroz1 Very interesting! Perhaps it’s because of the fact that Coca-Cola is often used as a symbol of the USA. Early ad campaigns presented it as being an "all-American" product. Alternatively, maybe McCarthy is a Coca-Cola fan?
@evvanbuc The entire collection Love After the End is great, so I’m sure you could pick a couple. A couple favourites of mine are "History of the New World" by Adam Garnet Jones and "Abacus" by Nathan Alder.
@Electrostani My program at the university of ottawa has a language requirement. It’s a translation exam, which is usually French to English unless another language is more suited to the student’s dissertation. The exam can be done more than once and the school offers free French courses.

The #2022LocusAwards winner for Best Non-fiction is Dangerous Visions and New Worlds: Radical Science Fiction, 1950–1985, Andrew Nette & Iain McIntyre, eds. (PM)!
Pleased to announce that Dangerous Visions and New Worlds has been nominated for both a Locus and Hugo Award. This full-colour volume features my chapter on Marge Piercy alongside many other great works on radical SF from 1960-1985. https://t.co/Jai6JnG3FQ
Just out of a @utopiaeurope conference organising meeting with @PatriciaMcManu4 and we have some very exciting conference news: our second confirmed keynote speaker is the excellent Professor Raffaella Baccolini @r_baccolini !! 1/8
@fleischchurch 100% in the future I want a dog named Broccoli and a dog named Artichoke (Brock and Artie for short). Benji escaped what my family thinks are terrible names because he was a rescue, so I guess he’s just a lucky pup (we are lucky too).
