Things that won't pass unless Dems end the filibuster:
—Gun control
—The For the People Act
—The John Lewis Voting Rights Act
—Medicare for All
—A Green New Deal
—A $15 minimum wage
—Immigration reform
The list goes on.
It's progress or the filibuster. We can't have both.
It is unacceptable that some of the largest corporations in America have paid nothing in federal income taxes after making billions of dollars in profits.
It is unacceptable that billionaires are now paying a lower effective federal income tax rate than the bottom 90 percent.
Space travel is an exciting idea, but right now we need to focus on Earth and create a progressive tax system so that children don't go hungry, people are not homeless and all Americans have healthcare. The level of inequality in America is obscene and a threat to our democracy.
The 50 wealthiest people in America today own more wealth than the bottom half of our people. Let me repeat that, because it is almost too absurd to believe: the 50 wealthiest people in this country own more wealth than some 165 MILLION Americans.
That is a moral obscenity.
The GOP bill to repeal the estate tax would give the Walton family, the richest family in America and the owners of Walmart, a tax break of up to $88 billion. Does anyone really believe that we should be providing an $88 billion tax break to the wealthiest family in the country?
LIVE: The Senate Budget Committee is holding a hearing on why we need to end a rigged and corrupt tax code that gives trillions of dollars in tax breaks to the wealthy and huge corporations. https://t.co/6Dw5UJRKp5
Last year, one-in-five Americans couldn’t afford to buy the medicine prescribed by their doctor. Meanwhile, pharmaceutical companies made billions in profits and spent hundreds of millions on CEO compensation. We must end their greed.
63 percent of our workers are living paycheck to paycheck during this pandemic.
Meanwhile, 664 billionaires got $1.3 trillion richer.
Maybe – just maybe – it’s time to build an economy that works for all.
If you paid $14.99 a month for a Zoom Pro membership, you paid more to Zoom than it paid in federal income taxes even as it made $660 million in profits last year – a 4,000 percent increase since 2019. Yes. It's time to end a rigged tax code that benefits the wealthy & powerful.
In our frenetic attempt to keep up with the litany of tasks, we lose sight of all the gifts in this profession. Try to treasure the magical moments instead of rushing through them. #Wellness https://t.co/1WzJ9ltaHS
I can describe success in 3 words:
