@At_lives_here@daveweigel The Grapes of Wrath was number 1 on the nyt bestsellers list for 24 weeks in 1939, the year WW2 broke out and American Nazis rallied at Madison square garden, the year before the legalization of the 40 hour work week and year after child labor was outlawed.
@thamosdeaf I found Moby Dick, overall, very funny, but the opening graph was a true lol for me.
Basically 100% of Elkin's the magic kingdom. Maybe the funniest novel I've ever read.
auslander's Hope: A Tragedy also was very, very funny front to back.
@TheUntranslated Idk if you're a bolano guy, but there is a plaque for him in carrer tallers in El raval, where he lived for awhile, and a nice self guided walk in Blanes, a short train ride from Barcelona.
@T1S_S0_SW33T I work in digital marketing and it really is just a combination of 1 your aunt and you presumably have some digital overlap and she probably bought it online so you get ads for it and 2 your digital footprint is enough to predict the kinds of things you'd like.
@Srirachachau I've long held that nobody really cares how long it is, they care about how late it goes. Start it at 2pm pacific and make it 6 hours long, just full of montages and musical acts and skits and speeches.
@coopercooperco I think you can tour the campus, too. So not only do you have to grind away at hogwarts making a 3rd party health platform that frustrates doctors and patients alike, but is too pervasive not to use for either party, but you got lookyloos doing quidditch outside your office.
