Delighted to be a part of this great initiative. We look forward to working together with partners for wider dissemination and roll out of the tool in local municipalities. #MoFAGA#IFRC#NRCS#CBDRMPlatform
Nepal's Municipal Disaster Risk Governance Assessment Tool has been approved by the Government! It's a checklist & self-assessment framework for risk-informed municipal regulations, policies & systems at the community level. Learn more here - https://t.co/nVWVKVbk74
I am very happy to formalize the growing cooperation between @IFRC, @NepalRedCross and the Non-Resident Nepali Association. We will work together to raise funds after disasters, to connect Nepali expats with the RC in their new homes, and to support Nepal's development.
Anticipatory action is well past its "pilot phase". With over 140 activations in 54 countries in 2025, it is the new baseline, common sense way of protecting people. Nepal can be proud of its new AA Roadmap. Now it is time to implement at scale. https://t.co/OA888PyquL
The Executive Committee has also now set the stage on disaster preparedness for the impending monsoon. The recent national simulation exercise showed that we are mainly ready, but will need attention to the quality of warnings, readiness to act, and cash preparedness.
Congrats to the National DRR/DRM Executive Committee on adopting Nepal's Nat'l Framework on Anticipatory Action. @NepalRedCross, with support from @danskrodekors and the @ifrc network, has been a key ally in development. This will make Nepalis safer. https://t.co/g3nPIDUycC.
We are excited to be developing our regional cooperation with @icimod on mountain resilience and linked-up mountain-to-valley early warning and early action systems. Thanks, colleagues for good progress today.
Congratulations to @NepalRedCross for serving as a global pioneer for this new @ifrc tool. Early warning is not much use if people do not trust the messages and take action. At the RC we must be ready to listen and learn how to gain and keep this trust.
At @ifrc, we are so glad that yesterday's elections were largely peaceful. We are so grateful to the hundreds of @NepalRedCross volunteers who spent the day outside polling stations all around the country, prepared to provide first aid. We never regret being prepared.
@ifrc and @NepalRedCross were pleased to present our plan to support long-term recovery of communities affected by the Jajarkot earthquake and 2024 / 2205 floods in Nepal to key partners. Thanks to @NDRRMA_Nepal CEO Er. Bhatt for his keynote! See more: https://t.co/QblsPm8dya

🇳🇵 The 4th National Dialogue on #AnticipatoryAction united govt, Red Cross, UN & partners to shift from response to readiness. 🔴 Red Cross priority: scale AA investment, strengthen preparedness, align tools & accelerate early action for climate risks.

📍Nepal’s #4thNationalDialogue on #AnticipatoryAction, I highlighted the unique Red Cross Red Crescent mandate and called on all actors to protect humanitarian neutrality—so we can serve without asking whom, and reach the most vulnerable first.

From pilots to systems: Anticipatory Action (AA) must be institutionalised, not treated as a project. AA is the preparedness of preparedness—part of the DRM cycle.
Nepal must now scale AA across all 753 local governments.

Great to see an excellent example of Red Cross youth volunteers engagement and their contribution in advancing EW4ll initiatives through locally led actions.
A Red Cross youth volunteer from Phalelung, remote Nepal, shared how she champions climate action and early warnings in her community and school. She proudly represented @NepalRedCross (+ thousands of youth Red Cross volunteers) at 4th National Dialogue on Anticipatory Action.
Extreme weather, melting glaciers and rising health risks – Nepal is among the most climate-vulnerable countries. Yesterday, Embassy joined hands with @PunainenRisti, @ifrc and @NepalRedCross for Dialogue on #ClimateAndHealth to share solutions and promote inclusive action. 🌏
The Finnish Red Cross @NepalRedCross@IFRCAsiaPacific@RCClimate
& @finlandinnepal hosted a dialogue on #ClimateHealth in Nepal, launching key actions:
✅ Locally led solutions
✅ Climate-smart health programs
✅ Urban planning for heat & air pollution
✅ Mental health focus

Not just a dialogue — a call for sensitive, anticipatory action. Climate & health is not only human health; it’s the health of mountains, rivers, forests & ecosystems.
Time to turn evidence into policy & action.

The number of cases remains modest and has been kept mainly under control, but it could be the start of a larger cholera outbreak in Saptari District. The @IFRC is supporting @nepalredcross to mobilise volunteers and support authorities with oral rehydration salts.
This week, we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the adoption of the modern version of the RC/RC Movement Fundamental Principles. These seven principles -- humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality -- inform everything we do.
Nepal Red Cross is providing first aid and blood services during the ongoing protests.
More than 150 people have received help in 16 districts.
Our support is neutral, impartial, and based only on humanitarian need. We continue to respond as the situation evolves.
