Mangaluru Court Sentences Five to Rigorous Imprisonment for MDMA Trafficking

In a landmark judgment, the Principal District Judge (PDJ) Court in #Mangaluru on Saturday convicted five individuals for their role in a major drug peddling operation that targeted students.
The case, registered under the #NarcoticDrugs and Psychotropic Substances (#NDPS) Act, dates back to June 14, 2022, when the Mangaluru police (CEN) conducted a raid that led to the seizure of 125 grams of #MDMA. The accused were apprehended while allegedly preparing to sell the narcotic substance to students.
After hearing arguments presented by Public Prosecutor Mrs. Judith, the court found all five accused guilty under Section 21(C) and Section 27(b) of the NDPS Act. The sentences handed down include lengthy terms of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and substantial fines.
1. Mohammed Rameez,(Palam House ,Uppalagate) : 14 years RI and ₹1,45,000 fine under Section 21(C); plus 6 months RI and ₹10,000 fine under Section 27(b).
2. Abdul Rauff ( Mulinja ,Varkadi Upalla ) : 13 years RI and ₹1,35,000 fine under Section 21(C); plus 6 months RI and ₹10,000 fine under Section 27(b).
3. Lual Daniel Justine Boulo (alias Dany) : 12 years RI and ₹1,25,000 fine under Section 21(C); plus 6 months RI and ₹10,000 fine under Section 27(b).
4. Moiddin Rasheed ( Kunnel Shukriya) : 12 years RI and ₹1,25,000 fine under Section 21(C); plus 6 months RI and ₹10,000 fine under Section 27(b).
5. Sabitha ,alias Chinchu ( Madiwala, Bengaluru ) : 12 years RI and ₹1,25,000 fine under Section 21(C); plus 6 months RI and ₹10,000 fine under Section 27(b).
