APPROVAL VOTING unites us! Politics doesn't have to be polarizing. We can change the game so we can have representatives that focus on what we agree on.
@PollTracker2024 "Hi, I'm a major political party that fully understands the dynamics of vote-splitting to remain relevant in the US...and I still use plurality voting in a wide field of clone-ish choices to make endorsements 🙃"
Use APPROVAL VOTING!
The Democratic Party should be embracing Approval Voting, not Ranked Choice Voting.
Approval Voting (vote for everyone you like) is:
- easier for voters to understand
- selects more popular winners
- fully eliminates vote splitting
- provides faster results on election day

The Equal Vote Coalition supports science backed voting methods including STAR Voting, Approval Voting, and Ranked Robin that prevent vote-splitting and ensure equality of the vote.
@jm___123@fairvote@DebTheOtis@usnews A voter's 2nd choice can be eliminated before their 1st choice so there's nowhere for the vote to transfer to. Voters in RCV whose favorite hangs on till the end -but can't win- often don't have their other choices counted. RCV ignores most of the rankings on voters' ballots...
@fairvote Their vote doesn't always count for their next choice! What if their next choice was eliminated in an earlier round? This is the major flaw. RCV doesn't count all the preferences.

Great to see ProRep's arguments for #ProportionalRepresentation in CA making it to the @nytimes!

Another big win! South Ogden City Council is now the fourth city this year to vote to request Approval Voting as an option for cities from the legislature! #UtahApproves#ElectionRefrom#ApprovalVoting
In this time of unprecedented polarization, STAR Voting’s 0-5 star ballot transcends the yes/no, us-against-them narrative.
The result is a system that levels the playing field, elects representative candidates, and empowers voters to hold those elected officials accountable.
I mostly stay away from politics, but I think one of the most important elections in the country is happening in #Eguene.
It's because STAR Voting is on the ballot.
This isn't a magic bullet, but if you are interested in decreasing tribalism let me tell you why you should vote:
The stakes are high and this election, May 21st, Eugene voters have a chance to lead on voting reform and become a model for the rest of the nation. Please vote YES on Measure 20-349, STAR Voting for Eugene Elections!

We’re halfway through our #CESChallenge. Don’t miss your chance to #DoubleYourImpact. Every dollar will be matched up to $50,000 through May 31st. https://t.co/8ZMPYxLVsx
STAR Voting addresses the top reasons cited for banning RCV. That's why STAR was invented. The election science community knew this was coming for decades and we could have prevented it.
Failing to upgrade proposals when needed puts the entire voting reform movement at risk.
How does the math work in approval voting? It's easy:
1) Every voter selects all the candidates they like
2) All the selections for each candidate are added up
3) The result is the # of selections for each candidate over the number of ballots (voters)
That's #approvalvoting
