@arivetingpro @dr_mattmorgan As a GP, my post-tax Aus salary, would be double (or more) my pre-tax UK salary. Even accounting for high cost of living I would be so much better off. Hard to justify staying here any longer
@rcgp @MartinRCGP @thetimes Spot on, currebtly 11hrs into my day, non-stop. Now have an hours admin to do. And not unusual to have to do that additionally on days off for which we aremt paid due to the volume of it.
"GPs working ‘part-time’ are in fact working more than full-time, with reams of paperwork to complete when they are not seeing patients". Read @MartinRCGP's letter in today’s @thetimes refuting yesterday's article about part-time working in general practice.
Conspiracy theorist, anti-vaxxer and struck-off nurse Kate Shemirani is here literally threatening NHS doctors with the noose.
I believe she is inciting hatred and would be grateful @metpoliceuk if you could please investigate.
Please RT if you agree.
@johnghughes3@Mumhasdementia Oh we get a LOT of this…. I must get at least one a day and they’re often tricky & repeated consults as patients want continued answers, investigation, management options whilst awaiting secondary care-and often we don’t have these which is why we referred initially.
I'm launching a petition to tie NHS salaries to MPs' salaries
MPs have seen their pay rise by £15,000 over 5 years while NHS staff have seen their pay cut in real terms
If it's fair for MPs, it's fair for NHS staff
Please sign and share!

@drmarkporter I still have patients with covid sx, out and about in town when phoned, who seem shocked when told they need to self-isolate & take a test as they have a cough. I despair. We’re over a year in now
@ujwaliofficial MRCS viva, he was brilliant to me. Usual exam pressure brain freeze ‘we both know that you know this, and much more, so don’t worry’ and proceeded to move on, question other things, subtly bring it full circle and say ‘there you go, you knew it all along, as did I’ Respect!
@leckymac@ShaunLintern@NHSEngland But who are those staff to do the evenings & weekends? The same ones that have been in work all day/week, already exhausted from a year of covid. Staff are finite resources, highly trained, not something wrong magic up off a supermarket shelf!
@jprgooch @ShaunLintern@NHSEngland And forgetting that ‘locums’ are effectively part of the workforce anyway. Not an extra pool of staff, just those that tend to work more flexibly, or working additional shifts on top of their regular job....
@BrianTa77423573@ShaunLintern@ShelaghFogarty@NHSEngland ‘Recruiting’ - yeah, I’d love to know from where. Government make it sound like we can just purchase them from Tesco! Takes many many years to train staff, and we can’t pinch them from abroad when other counties are struggling with covid impact just as much as us.
@ShaunLintern@NHSEngland But who are those Locums? It’s effectively the existing workforce-in many instances people doing extra shifts on top of their usual full time jobs to fill gaps. Or those working flexibly, rather than a fixed position. There’s no magic extra supply of workforce.
@AdamMeakins Agree on your point re:marketing. Different point-low quality pt, aren’t they the ones that want passive tx only, don’t do their exercises, (or don’t engage after referral sent), DNA appts-and then complain it didn’t work... Plenty of them about!!
@older_n_weirder@roux_group No, the odd stroppy consultant-who would be universally acknowledged as such, which not to say makes that ‘acceptable’ - but nothing in the league of overt bullying/sexism i experienced that F2year, which was reprehensible.
@DrJN_SportsMed@LizzyFerret Mind you, even as a Dr, got called to help someone with chest pain mid flight. Not much help when the pt was Chinese with no English & the cabin crew spoke English, but not enough to translate anything medical. Thankfully they were young, so prob anxiety not cardiac! I hope! 🤷🏼♀️
@logintaken@roux_group God only knows-his wife was an ED consultant as well. But honestly, as an keen F2 wanting to do surgery, we’d be given a talking to at least weekly about how there was no place in surgery, or indeed most of ‘medicine’ for women.
@older_n_weirder@roux_group Wouldn’t tolerate that behaviour now. Med Reg was aware-and a brilliant guy. Swore as a core trainee/Reg, if I was ever posted to this chap, I would refuse & then tell deanery why... but that’s with the benefit of hindsight being a little older & confident
