I noticed that Laertes and Hamlet are foils. Hamlet is less inclined to face problems head on, whereas Laertes is. He emphasizes Hamlets flaws as well as his strengths and we see this as Hamlet mourns the death of Opehlia #falzham7_5

betrayal as a theme carry’s out until the end. the reason why hamlet wanted to seek revenge was because of betrayal and ironically betrayal is what would take his life. he’s betrayed by his friends and by claudius one last time. theres no true resolution for hamlet #falzham7_5

we see grief play a huge role in ophelia’s life after the death of her father and this is what ultimately changes her as a character. in earlier acts grief made a lot of people uncomfortable, and I find it ironic because grief is what shapes each character #falzham7_4

the relationship between gertrude and hamlet is shifting and there’s a lot of symbolism in the tapestry of the two brothers. hamlets anger and his belittlement of gertrude further develops hamlet #falzham7_4

in act 4, we see a huge shift in all the characters especially hamlet and it reinforces how hamlet feels about everyone. It’s also marks the start of ophelia’s downfall because hamlet kills her father, the foreshadowing is important #falzham7_4

one of the main themes is appearance vs reality and the irony of the line “my words fly up, my thoughts remain below, words without go to heaven” shows how hamlet gets tricked by appearance because at first he thinks claudius is just praying but that isn’t the case #falzham7_3

the “to be or not to be” line impacts the way hamlet views his life to be either worthless or important and I think this plays a huge role in the way we view him as a character. hes more complex and his claim that the world is sinful further develops that #falzham7_2

ive noticed that theres a strong use of paradox and we see this as claudius begins to reveal his true intentions while also gaining sympathy. as a reader you’re conflicted by his actions and intentions #falzham7_2

@ryanfra89089949 #falzforetold207 I think this comes back to the culture of the people. Not stepping in because it’s “not your business” is an aspect of Latin society. We even see the priest go against catholic preaching and accept the idea of honor being the motive behind murder.

@sofiasafi11 #falzforetold207 I don’t think Pablo wanted to kill Santiago but again this idea of honor blurred what was right and wrong. Pablo didn’t want to go through with the murder but he tagged along because of Pedro. Regardless they both acted on this need to protect their honor

@sofiasafi11 I think it's ironic that racism limited troy from playing, but troy was the reason why cory technically could not play. I understand why troy was trying to protect cory, but history is only repeating itself. #falzfences207

@CarolineHunnew1 @sofiasafi11 The fence is unique to each character. It seemed like the fence was a way for rose to keep her family together, for troy it was his way to keep pain and denial away, and for cory the fence stood as a symbol for the limits placed on him. #falzfences207

@sofiasafi11 #falzfences207 the symbolism in the play stood out to me and made it easier to understand and establish some of the characters. 1 symbol I thought was interesting was the garden and seeds. It represented the importance of patience and nurturing. Qualities Rose had in the story.

@kerry_broderick I think it's interesting how at the beginning of the play Cory wanted to be like his dad but by the end of it he just wanted to escape him. By leaving home, I think Cory was able to become the person he wanted to be, but I don't think he every truly escaped his dad #falzfences207

@AnnabelCarifa #falzyw7 I agree that the shift in her perspective reflects her mental state. She goes from being bothered by the wallpaper to being infatuated with it. It reflects not only her losing her mind, but it also reflects the shift within herself. She realizes she's trapped.

@sofiasafi11 #falzyw7 the conflict between the narrator and her husband is one of the more prominent ones in the story. Her conflict with him is what sparks an internal conflict. She's realizes how powerless she is in the relationship and she struggles to accept that.
