Data centers are making the lives of incumbents very hard this election year.
We look toward Sen. Jon Husted for a sense of the political minefield candidates are navigating.

As AI continues to be recklessly accelerated by big tech, we are witnessing how dangerously powerful it can be without guardrails, oversight, or accountability.
AI poses real risks to infrastructure, journalists, advocates, professors, lawyers, and students.
That’s why Congressional action to ensure the people have oversight and to regulate AI is so essential to protecting our privacy, civil liberties, and democratic institutions.
Thanks to @AIpolicynetwork for hosting a great roundtable discussion last week with @secureainow & @americans4ri! It was a unique opportunity for SPSA members to speak candidly with former Hill staffers about their career pivots to AI policy communications.
Another good AI bill dropping today from @boblatta@Rep_Whitesides and @SenAdamSchiff@SenatorBanks. Structured collaboration channels between U.S. frontier AI labs are vital to thwart adversary distillation attacks.

OpenAI’s reported autonomous AI cyber incident should be a wake-up call.
As Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection, I'm calling for better coordination between Congress, my Subcommittee, federal agencies, and the companies developing these powerful AI systems.
If we do this well, we will SUPERCHARGE American AI dominance.
As AI systems grow more capable, Americans deserve confidence that the most powerful models are being developed responsibly.
I’m introducing the FRONTIER Act with @JayObernolte to ensure commonsense transparency and independent oversight for the largest AI developers while giving them a single, clear national standard to build on.

Thank you @secureainow for your support of the AI Kill Switch Act.
This is urgent, common sense, bipartisan legislation to address catastrophic risks posed by the most advanced AI models.
@calebknappdc IMO the annual compliance audits are not nearly as big of a deal as the ongoing/continual catastrophic risk mitigation audits that very large frontier developers are subject to under section 5!
Lots of ideas flying around today about what comes after the OpenAI/Hugging Face incident. My ask: get serious about the FRONTIER Act. @RepLoriTrahan and @JayObernolte have been building toward this for a long time, and the bill they introduced today is the standard-bearer for governing catastrophic AI risk. There are parts we'd strengthen. There are parts we'd clarify. But this bill is good. But good bills don't become law merely because they are good bills. They become law because people engage and push them forward. If you're deeply invested in this issue, get invested in this bill. Help make it better, and help make it move.
Congress and the Administration must work together to ensure more robust funding for CAISI and more hiring for technologists and other experts to help with capacity-building and enforcement.
@RepLoriTrahan & @JayObernolte's bipartisan FRONTIER Act deserves a lot of credit here; they are clearly engaged with stakeholders and civil society across the spectrum and have incorporated extensive feedback. 🧵

Does the “substantially new contribution” language pave the way for any legal grey areas? Also, any bills legislating on the frontier will increase capacity demand on an already strained federal apparatus.
