School strike week 251. Today, I graduate from school, which means I’ll no longer be able to school strike for the climate. This is then the last school strike for me, so I guess I have to write something on this day.

Twitter workers, many of whom I represent, were FINALLY given their "severance agreements" on Saturday.

They are really settlement agreements which SILENCE WORKERS FOR LIFE and and require them to give up important legal rights.

Let's discuss. 1/

The idea that the answer to someone sleeping in a fucking riverbed is to give them a ticket is bonkers

when billionaires like Jeff Bezos say they are going to "give away all their money to charity", it's a lie. What they mean is they will give the money to their own foundations, evade taxes, and keep control over it so as to retain power. Economist Thomas Piketty explains:

@djcelts @sophia_71_ @AnotherOtherMan @kattenbarge One more (sorry), BUT most importantly - Whether you or I believe Amber Heard doesn’t change the dangerous precedent it sets to allow defamation cases against people speaking up re: SA/abuse. In a system that operates on precedent, this creates yet another safety net for abusers

@djcelts @sophia_71_ @AnotherOtherMan @kattenbarge Objective truth doesn’t have to exist within the performance of a televised trial, the judge’s opinion, or the lawyers’ arguments… in a case of « he said/she said » & very few tangible/clear pieces of evidence, a lot comes down to judge’s own ideas & whose lawyer argues the best

[🌹 @cali_comrade]

@djcelts @sophia_71_ @AnotherOtherMan @kattenbarge Unfortunately, I think the lens through which we (myself included) all viewed the trial was affected by our own conscious/unconscious biases. If you think about it, social media did a quite a lot of heavy lifting to shape the way we saw, discussed, and critiqued it.

The most important thing I learned after Uvalde is that there are over 50,000 school police officers in this country, but they haven't stopped even one school shooting. Instead they've arrested over 1 million kids, mostly students of color.

This should really mark the end of the “benevolent billionaire” myth. Not only did Musk pay $44 billion for Twitter when he could’ve ended starvation globally with that money, he also has already literally backed out of a $6 billion promise to the UN to help solve world hunger.

Sometimes I just think about how there’s absolutely no silver lining to Shein. The clothes are full of lead. The clothes are made in exploitative conditions. The clothes are contributing to pollution and global warming. The clothing designs are stolen. And the clothes fall apart.

THREAD: The biggest story of my life is finally out.

Since 2019, I’ve been investigating a monitoring tool called Social Sentinel. They bill it as a way to help save students’ lives.

I found it had another purpose — surveilling campus protests. https://t.co/I0okAqeRen

NEWS: Years ago, I FOIA'd @fbi files on Aretha Franklin. Today, I received the files. While incomplete, they show repeated and disgusting suspicion of the famed Black singer, her work, and activists around her. 🧵:
