I wish to express my disgust that my mother has been in New Cross Hospital since this 27th March for build up of fluids which resulted in a 2 week delay and caused for her to miss her cancer treatment and lost a significant amount of weight since she could not eat due to the fluid. We have now been told as a family that my mother can no longer have treatment due to the deterioration of her condition and to go home and be with family. We were advised that my mother would have a temporary drain to make her comfortable and in readiness to go home! It has now been a week and still no appointment for the scheduled drain and the bank holiday is fast approaching which will result in skeleton staff i.e no staff to carry out the procedure and this could prove to be fatal for my mother who is already in discomfort and been through so much at the hospital with all these delayed procedures and delayed care for the last 4 weeks. It appears to be you have cancer no longer treatable go home and die and the hospital using tactics that if they delay the process this will result in her passing away at hospital or she no longer waits for the drain and discharges herself where the hospital will no longer be responsible for this. I have contacted PALS of @RWT_NHS and await a response. My mother has a choice and chosen the drain which will make her feel comfortable and cannot understand why her wishes are not being respected.
