Take It or Leave It
Mhesh, indeed, Lee Kuan Yew, is widely regarded as the mastermind behind Singapore's transformation from a 3rd world country into a 1st world nation. When he took office in 1959, he had a clear 10 point agenda. He had a vision, a mission, and, most importantly, a roadmap for achieving that vision.
Affordable housing was his number 9 point agenda.
Do you know what he placed at point number 1??
Fighting Corruption, and he was absolutely ruthless in this war.
He began by empowering the anti corruption agency and granting it genuine independence, free from political interference or influence. It had the authority to investigate anyone, ministers, civil servants, politicians, police officers, businessmen, and women. No stone was left unturned, and no one was above the law.
Investigations, prosecutions, and court processes were swift, fast, and efficient. He strengthened anti-corruption laws, ensuring those found guilty faced severe very long prison sentences. The mighty fell, Big names fell, The who's who of Singapore found themselves behind bars. Wealth that could not be explained or lawfully accounted for was investigated and, where appropriate, confiscated and back to government coffers.
Lee Kuan Yew famously said,
"If you want to fight corruption, you must be prepared to send your friends and relatives to jail."
And he lived by those words.
So before we jump to point number 9 and try to compare Singapore's affordable housing programme with ours, why don't we first start with point number 1?
If we genuinely did this in Kenya, I forsee within 2 months, the Parliament, the Senate, county assemblies, and even some governors' offices would be completely Empty..😅 Watashikwaa woteee..
Our prisons would be overcrowded with politicians and government staff, and we might even have to convert Kasarani and Nyayo Stadium into Concentration Camps,
😅🤣

Ahmed Hashi – Governance Analyst: If Odinga were alive today, he would be President, but he's not, and his successor is Sifuna. He doesn't know much about statecraft, and he's the kind of person we need because the same old people who are already in the system will not change anything #CitizenDayBreak
