Territorial acknowledgements state gratefulness to live/work/play on Indig lands
Perhaps they should acknowledge institutions, industries, people extract wealth, resources, opportunity, comfort from those same lands.
Without truth, acknowledgement = performance not responsibility
Does anyone else get fed up with the palatable "missing" & murdered Indigenous women, when in reality we R hunted, stalked, stolen & murdered? Let's focus on the society that allows predators to lurk among us, to sit at our dinner tables! We don't just wander off & go missing!
@Abeaeus@Scott_White The descendents should know. Most people know who their great-grandparents or folks from that generation. Last residential school closed in Rankin Inlet in 1997. They were still going strong in the 1930s.
I am never sure how much of my #TwoSpiritness to show when I provide my talks, but I always try to ensure that people know that it's part of the lens through which I experience the world & that it's time to recognize that no ceremony circle is complete until we are within it.
