The NCAA got it right, because tonight’s women’s tournament matchups are one of the best in history! There is star power on all four teams, great coaching, and all have outstanding storylines on how they made it to the Elite Eight! As a basketball fan and a fan of women’s sports, this is heaven for me!
@oatsdoc It’s an additional year after graduating residency. I believe anyone doing chief responsibilities during residency should be getting a stipend and many programs do this. One thing that helped our negotiations was to talk to other chiefs at similar programs
My chief year has been a rewarding and valuable experience as an instructor and housestaff leader. I was also able to successfully negotiate my contract and would definitely not say that I’m underpaid 🤪
Can anyone explain the logic behind some specialties asking residents to do an *additional* (and underpaid) year as “chief resident” just to be more competitive for fellowships?
Since fellowship apps are due soon, it’s time to shamelessly promote myself on twitter 🤪 Current chief resident, future pediatric emergency medicine doc! Interested in DEI, health education and global health. #fellowshipmatch#pem

"We're not bar fighters. We're not thugs. We're not monkeys. We're not street fighters. ... So watch what you say when you're in public and you're talking about my team in particular."

I received a message this week: “Any advice for couples who just found out they have to do long distance for residency? Feeling so broken-hearted and wronged by the system right now.”
Here is some advice from polls / Q&A on my other platforms:
Melissa Gilkey Benton of WashU earned consecutive UAA Women's Basketball Player of the Year honors (2014 & 2015). She finished her career ranked second in scoring at WashU.
She also won the javelin three consecutive years (2013-15) at the UAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
