The Truth about Butterflies by @maxwelleatoniii is such an amazing book. This book is packed with beautiful illustrations and interesting facts that draw students in. I learned so much from reading it myself!!
This nonfiction book is so engaging and interesting. Itโs also part of a series! By reading other books in this series, you can learn the truth aboutโฆ Elephants, Crocodiles, Hawks, Parrots, Dolphins, Hippos, and Bears! What a fun way to learn more about animals and conservation.
Rainbow the Koala by @Remy_Lai is such a neat book! Itโs the perfect read for students who are passionate about animals and the environment. It has a great message that helps readers understand why protecting the environment is so important.
This graphic novel helps students understand more about animals, climate change, and environmental issues. My students LOVE graphic novels, so Iโm excited to have Rainbow the Koala available for them.
The way students are able to connect themselves and others to this book is what makes it so wonderful and empowering. It is a great way to begin and extend conversations about disability in the classroom. #APPreadstomakeadifference
I really enjoyed reading Just Ask! by Justice Sonia Sotomayor and @rafaellopezart with my students this week. My students were able to see themselves and their friends in this story, which opened up some great conversations.
From the letter to the reader at the beginning: โI hope by seeing yourself or your friends in this story, you will understand that weโre all different, and you will find that notion comforting and empowering. I hope too that you will find what we have in common.โ
One of my favorite stories in the book is from @weshoyot about Maria Tallchief, who was the first Native American woman to become a prima ballerina. I grew up doing ballet and connected with the story when counting all the things we had in common on page 85. What a cool book!
I recently read Noise Makers: 25 Women Who Raised Their Voices & Changed the Word from @Kazoomagazine @ErinBried What a powerful, inspiring, and engaging book. I learned so much, and Iโm excited too add this to my classroom library!! #APPreadstomakedifference
I instantly loved Stellaโs character, and I enjoyed learning more about her passion for environmental change. Students should be able to easily connect with Stella as she learns more about change, relationships, and using her voice to change the world. #APPreadstomakeadifference
Stella Dรญaz Never Gives Up by @andominguez is such a fun and interesting book! I really enjoyed reading it, and Iโm excited to share it with my students this week through a book talk. If you donโt already have this in your classroom library, you need it!!
I really enjoyed reading @henakhanbooks poem about @ziadahmed and his work in using your voice to defy hate on pages 6-7 in No Voice Too Small edited by @lindsayhmetcalf and @keila_dawson and illustrated by @JeanetteBradley.
