[Deutsche Grammophon (DG) @DGclassics]

It fills us with incredible sadness that Seiji Ozawa – one of the greatest musical minds of our time and ultimate master of sensuous sound – has passed. His rich and lasting recording legacy on Deutsche Grammophon has spanned over half a century, featured leading orchestras across three continents and encompassed musical traditions as varied as the American, Austro-German, French and Russian schools.
He will be greatly missed. Farewell Maestro.

@ UK politics, y'all ok?

[Maggie 🍭 @candypearl541]

lol i love many things about the UK, but not the version i'm seeing reports of right now.

thank the gods i'm back home (not by any means perfect) and most importantly, not in any fear of racist, right wing bullshit that would be a physical threat.

Judi Dench was on Graham Norton last night to push her new book about her life and work with Shakespeare. After making the point we quote Shakespeare daily without knowing it, this happened:

Rest easy, Legend. #RIPTonyBennett

[Tony Bennett @itstonybennett]

Tony left us today but he was still singing the other day at his piano and his last song was, “Because of You,” his first #1 hit.

Tony, because of you we have your songs in our heart forever. ❤

RIP. I really admired and respected him, and what he tried to do for the profession. :(

RIP.

she's really grown on me, these past few years. it's so, so awful how such an outwardly positive and strong person might really have been suffering so much inside. depression kills, and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. #RIPCocoLee

[World Health Organization (WHO) @WHO]

These are warning signs that someone may be thinking about #suicide:
🔶 Severe mood changes
🔶 Social withdrawal
🔶 Expressing thoughts or plans about ending their life

[World Health Organization (WHO) @WHO]

If you think someone may be considering #suicide, remember:
🔸 Many people think about suicide at some point in their lives
🔸 Suicidal thoughts and behaviours are signs of severe emotional distress - not weakness
🔸 It is possible to get better

[Maggie 🍭 @candypearl541]

@grinchfucker i feel you.

[Maggie 🍭 @candypearl541]

@erahno_ @swyx ah yes. I didn't consider the regret / wistful angle.

still. "chosen" can capture that! (from a stoic Asian "i cut fruit for you to show i Care but i'll never say I Love You out loud" point of view) and more!!

[Maggie 🍭 @candypearl541]

@erahno_ @swyx now i'm thinking about the emotional impact of "chosen" vs "really liked". does our preference for "chosen" imply a more inward view (still waters run deep vibes) i.e. the choice itself is the most Romantic aspect? whereas "really liked" is more explicit? if so, why not "loved" ?

[Maggie 🍭 @candypearl541]

@erahno_ @swyx perhaps a succint translation could have been "in another life, i would also have chosen to open a laundromat and do taxes with you."

(logic cos laundromat then taxes right)

also because 来生 implies "next life" but eh who's to impose linear time on the karmic wheel?

[Maggie 🍭 @candypearl541]

@erahno_ @swyx oh my bad. the script actually says laundromat before taxes. lol.
