I'll say that for being a total newcomer to D.C. politics and launching her campaign in mid-February, @RiniSampath did an impressive job on Tuesday. Sure, she only got 3% of the vote, but that was on par with people with more name recognition or had been running for a year.
Interesting tidbit: @RiniSampath’s content received over 1.4 million views on Instagram in the past 30 days, 88% from accounts that don’t follow her.
It’s clear her message is resonating with voters who want someone new to take on the culture of corruption in DC government.
Why would you give a promotion to someone who has failed at the basic functions of their job? I’m running for DC mayor because the same career politicians who have let things get this bad aren’t going to be the ones to fix them. We need someone new. We need to fix the basics. $67 million in taxpayer money spent on what can only be described as one of DC’s most catastrophic municipal failures in recent history. City leaders have failed at the most basic functions of their jobs.
This is exactly why I’m running for Mayor. We need to bring competence, execution, and financial responsibility back to our city government.
RFS is happy to endorse @RiniSampath for Mayor of Washington, DC! Rini is a cybersecurity executive bringing bold, data-driven solutions to make DC safer, more affordable, and more effective for residents.
We need to stop using “deeply saddened” in political statements. Has anyone actually heard someone say that in real life? It’s another comms robot brain reflex that makes politicians sound out of touch with normal people.
Women face a 75% increased risk of domestic violence when attempting to separate from their partners, per @EndingViolence.
Across the the world, the greatest threat to any woman's safety is her partner — by an astonishing margin.
May it not be overlooked in today's reporting.
“Put a camera in front of a 74-year-old senator reading talking points that were workshopped by three consultants and approved by a committee, and you haven’t built a production studio. You’ve built a very expensive way to lose.”
We can't let fear stop us from enacting good policy. The Council has a moral obligation to act in the best interest of the people of DC, not to hide behind excuses because they're scared of a fight.
