@equalityAlec At a police dept near me, the policy is to respond w/ lights & sirens to any call where someone isn’t breathing. Except for when they find out it’s an OD. They sometimes shut down the lights & sirens after getting that info. Most often if it’s heroin or meth, I’ve noticed. Sad.
@michelledean Fave restaurant of all time. As a kid, I once asked for a to-go box since I didn’t finish my burger. Guy at the counter yelled out incredulously, “YOU COULDN’T FINISH A KIDDIE BURGER?” and my family has never forgotten.
@hanalyst@nienna121 There is a specific gene that makes some people more resistant! Chris has the gene and he, his mom, and his sister haven’t tested positive yet either. You can tell if you have the gene if you’ve ever done one of those ancestry tests.
Things I’ve heard little kids start group prayers with recently:
“Thank you for the ocean.”
“Thank you that we’re alive.”
Great reminder to lead with gratitude.
@Bonan_Me Yes. My Australian host family while studying abroad in college asked me the same question and that’s when I started realizing it wasn’t true.
My mom, who was in high school in the 70s, says for swimming in P.E., the boys swam naked because it was cheaper than the school buying them swimsuits. (Public school in a middle class area in Illinois, for context.)…What?!
