I'm a pine grit liberal from San Francisco, an American liberal, grounded in the Scottish Enlightenment and the American founding. Team lead for BitScaler (BTC)
The US attacks on Iran have been extended over at least 3+ rounds of missile hits. This seems to be much larger than anyone expected - We could be witnessing the start of a coastal attack campaign.
A particularly nasty Critical America Theory propaganda line now is to show how much cleaner and nicer foreign cities are and to make the comparison obvious. The fact is Democrats are destroying American cities and keeping them filthy and dangerous on purpose, and then this line.
It's important to understand that this is likely part of a sophisticated demoralization campaign meant to make Americans become down on their country and to believe it's failing, and worse-off than others. That makes it seem like the American system is failing.
The failure is being intentionally misplaced, though. The Democrats are intentionally failing our cities, usually while blaming Republicans for it in bizarre ways, or just laying the blame at the feet of America, freedom, or capitalism.
We need to break this spell and get the blame to fall where it belongs.
Victor Davis Hanson: California Election Theft Happens With Mail‑In Ballots, Not Election Day
I can think of three races where Californian Republicans in purple districts clearly won on Election Day—they've even had victory celebrations.
And then it starts just like this. You start to see the mail‑in ballots and then trickle, tickle, tickle, tickle, tickle, tickle, and the portions have nothing to do with the proportions that were counted before. So if Republicans are 58 points ahead across mail‑in ballots, in‑person voting on Election Day, it doesn’t matter.
The asymmetries will grow, argues @VDHanson following the now‑projected defeat of Spencer Pratt (who came in second place behind incumbent Mayor Karen Bass on Election Day) in the Los Angeles mayoral primary almost a week after the election, on today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.”
The U.S. House Can REFUSE to Seat Fraudulently Elected California Representatives.
Will Chamberlain: “We’re all basically in agreement these elections are fraudulent. Your insults don’t matter. Sorry, leftists, you can’t guilt-trip us or socially shame us into saying these elections are good. No, they’re fraudulent.”
“Obviously, everyone’s talked about the SAVE America Act, but I’m the proponent of one very simple fix that if the Supreme Court doesn’t solve this with the election day issue, my simple fix is this:
The way these elections matter the most federally is in the House. I think that Mike Johnson and the Republican House Caucus in November should look at the results and say, if you’re a California representative and you weren’t ahead on election day, we’re not going to seat you until we do a full investigation of your specific election and you prove you won.”
It took 13 years for Douglas Murray’s prophecy to come true.
And it is unfolding exactly as he warned.
Standing at the Oxford Union, Murray predicted that the West would once again abandon the Jews — and this time, Israel would be forced to stand completely alone.
He said it when it was deeply unpopular.
He said it when it was called “offensive.”
Now it’s reality.
This isn’t just an old speech. It’s a devastating indictment of Western cowardice.
The world abandoned the Jews again — and Israel is fighting for its life, just as Murray foresaw.
Make this viral. History is repeating itself, and the cowards have no excuse.
Some use the term "social liberal" in contrast to "social democrat", as a more constrained alternative, more starkedly opposed to socialism. I remember only learning the latter term as a political category explained to me in 8th grade, meant for those who would allow for redistribution and reject socialism.
Per Hayek, I'd avoid the use of "social" as a weasel word in the context of LIBERALISM. I use the adjective "social" to describe the rights-respectful interaction of men as I do also the noun "society", echoing the distinction made by Thomas Paine between society and government. Moreover, I add another term "controlment" that is distinct from "government".
The tragedy of the civil war amongst the leftists for the social democrats who veer into Communism
I'd add that F.A. Hayek's book "The Road to Serfdom" (1944) sheds essential light on this tragedy
Stephen Kotkin is one of the blind men with the elephant to whom I listen closely
Few scholars in American history have done more to illuminate what the Founding truly meant than Gordon Wood. Through seminal works such as The Creation of the American Republic and The Radicalism of the American Revolution, Professor Wood gave generations of readers a richer and more honest understanding of who we are as a people.
Gordon was a longtime and cherished participant in Liberty Fund programs and the 2024 recipient of the George F. Will Award for the Advancement of Liberty and the Free Society, a fitting recognition of a contribution to American historical scholarship that stands, by any measure, unmatched. His life's work is a gift to all who seek to understand the American experiment.
We extend our deepest condolences to his wife and family and to the countless scholars and citizens whose understanding of America, and of liberty itself, bears his indelible mark.
Two geo lessons today -
- Strait of Grief - Between Djibouti and Yemen, this is the second strait Iran's controlment seeks to control
- Kinburn Spit - In Ukraine, this is the spit from which Russia's controlment is reportedly retreating, auguring a speedier retreat from Crimea
Antifa’s war on fascism is really a war on capitalism.
They believe capitalism is fascism.
According to Germany’s domestic intelligence service, anti-fascism within left-wing extremist movements is inseparable from the broader struggle against the capitalist system itself.
That means when Antifa says it is fighting fascism, it is talking about fighting capitalism.
For decades, Cuba has been the world capital for radical left-wing terrorism. The regime in Havana has recruited, trained and backed violent Marxist and third-worldist movements across our hemisphere and beyond. Today, we are targeting the network that enables and funds Cuba's subversive and radical operations.
Pursuant to sanctions authorities created by President Trump’s groundbreaking Cuba Executive Order, I am designating the following entities:
1. Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba (MINFAR)
2. Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP)
3. Amistur Cuba S.A.
4. Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR)
5. Minera La Victoria S.A.
Anyone providing services to these sanctioned actors is at risk of sanctions themselves. Foreign banks and other companies that provide services to these entities should freeze those activities.
The Trump Administration will no longer tolerate radical Marxist regimes in our hemisphere seeking to threaten U.S. national security and engage in influence operations to export their poisonous and evil “revolution” to our country and around the world.
In 1992, a 32-year-old historian became Prime Minister of Estonia.
He had read exactly one book on economics: Milton Friedman's Free to Choose.
He used it as a policy manual. Western advisors and Estonian economists told him it would fail. 🧵
My new book, EMANCIPATION WAR: THE FALL OF SLAVERY & THE COMING OF THE THIRTEENTH AMENDMENT, is officially on sale today!
It chronicles the great legal, political, & military struggle to amend the U.S. Constitution to outlaw slavery once and for all.
I hope you’ll check it out.
The same people who call anyone who voted for Trump a Nazi are now lining up to defend an *actual Nazi* who proudly sported a tattoo of concentration camp guards for 18 years until he ran for office. And they have the audacity to pretend anything Trump did comes close to that.
My family escaped Communism to come to the U.S.
Today in the Oval Office, I asked President Trump why he's warning Americans about Communism in a new statement. His response was powerful:
“You're going to get free rent, you're going to get free houses, you're going to get free food, you're going to get free everything, but eventually that ends, and it leads to death, destruction, and squalor 100% of the time.”
On Mayor Mamdani in NYC: “I don't understand why he thinks it's okay for all these companies that pay hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes a year to leave, because you're not going to have any tax base.”
“Free enterprise is tougher to sell, but that's what's made our country great, and that's why it's great again now.”

🙀Shocking! This happened in South Korea too!
Three Chinese individuals assaulted several (elderly) Falun Gong practitioners and ordered them to “put your stuff away.”
The “stuff” they referred to consisted of posters exposing the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong in China, especially the forced organ harvesting (the mass killing of people for their organs).
This incident occurred in front of Jeju Shinhwa Duty Free around 6 PM yesterday (June 2).
😡How long will the free world continue to allow the CCP to do this everywhere?
Not long ago, a similar incident happened in Flushing, New York, USA, where a female Falun Gong practitioner was hit on the head and knocked to the ground by a Chinese man.
In trying to understand the actions of Russia and China over the decades, two terms I find helpful, Surkov's "nonlinear war" and Golitsyn's "scissors strategy". These make the game theory understandable
