A trip to meet the Pope is praiseworthy leadership, until a Black woman is the one making it. Then suddenly it's "missing in action." Same Vatican. Same mission for Chicago's workers. Different leader. Different headline.
That's not a coverage decision. That's a tell.
Hard not to notice the way that @AldReilly talks down to Budget Director Annette Guzman, as if she is unqualified to do her job -- and hard not to draw conclusions that there's racism and misogyny baked into his clear disrespect.
Well… labor has been at the table, in addition to being on the table. But maybe we can start with Alderman O’Shea returning my phone call and text messages. We can start there.

The city of Chicago is a beautiful place. To quote Chicago’s urban historian Dilla (@6figga_dilla ), “Everything that is dope about America comes from Chicago.” Chicago slander will not be tolerated.
But here’s the reality, the people who will vote for Trump don’t see him as an idiot. He’s speaking to them with this unhinged ranting. He’s not moving anyone over to his side, because the people that love him won’t leave him.
At Jahn Elementary, educators report class sizes of 37 students after more than 600 Teacher Assistants who helped with oversized classes were laid off. Many were placed in a retention pool, but why create chaos when the need is so clear? #UnderfundedUnderstaffed
It is good and right that we have heard from such a diverse representation of our party's perspectives on the DNC stage. Giving those perspectives a platform demonstrates we see them and hear them.
In the metropolitan region with the greatest number of Palestinians living in the diaspora at a time when 40,000 Palestinians are dead in Gaza, to deny Palestinian leaders a place on our stage is to miss an opportunity to prove we see and value them.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson risked a lot of political capital to use his position to ensure that the 3rd largest city in the United States would call for a cease-fire. Now, ahead of the DNC, he's accurately describing Israel's assault on Gaza as "genocidal." 🇵🇸
May 1, 2028.
General strike.
Join a union—or start one at your workplace.
Talk to your union leaders—or replace them if necessary.
Organize your fellow union members, your neighbors, your family members.
We’re ALL going out.
@AFTunion just overwhelmingly passed @CTULocal1 and @BTUBaltimore resolution to align union contracts across the US with @UAW for a common expiration of May 1, 2028 to win more for working people in bargaining, at the statehouse & all the way up to the White House. #RealSolutions
Er…what’s really going on is the usual retelling of the state’s excuses for why they won’t adequately fund the schools. There is NOTHING new here except the same old mantra that the press accepts: don’t fund the schools, and blame Chicago. Just reprinting state press releases.
@unionnick Nick is my student and research assistant. He is one of the brightest, thoughtful, conscientious, kind, and hardworking students I have had in the thirty plus years teaching at Cornell. The university should be celebrating students like Nick, not kicking him out.
the reputation of Chicago Police’s 11th district and tactical teams precede it. there’s plenty of public complaints to know it’s been sick. there’s no reason a team that killed Dexter Reed with 96 SHOTS should have been allowed to exist. endless & disgusting. there is no repair.
Comrade Chris Geovanis died on February 12. She was the baddest #Palestine solidarity activist around & always supported USPCN.
Watch this speech about #ShireenAbuAkleh! May they both Rest In Power!
